did anyone else pay to freeze payments? I paid £11.38 with Marbles April 2006, then had no interested or charges added to my account. At some point I started getting charged again
Can I claim back charges while on a DMP?0 -
Grr, im not a happy bunny! After waiting for a reply from FD all xmas they telephoned yesterday and have basically refused to accept a reduced payment or freeze interest and have said "we are lucky to leave your account open for the moment". Im so upset and really don't know what to do now. We offered them the maximum we can afford to pay them and with them being our bank and having a previous good history and not defaulting to date had hoped they would be sympathetic.
We have a second bank account set up with A & L and have decided to transfer over to them, default on the FD account but make a payment of what we offered them and send yet another letter and see what they then say. Are we doing the right thing? what would anyone suggest?0 -
Evening All
louloujs. I know Ray has done her own DMP so hopefully she will be along to give you the best advice. Very good she is to. I know that you can get some of the letter templates etc you may need off the National Debtline site.
cloudnine. Same for me reference the correspondence. It all seemed to dry up once I started the DMP. Enjoy it :T
debrag. All of mine bar one has frozen interest and the one that has not has reduced it considerably. It may take a while for them to realise you are doing your best and by dropping /stopping interest it will help you greatly. I was in the process of reclaiming bank charges but then the court case came along so the answer to your question is Yes.If you have CC charges to reclaim do so.
smitty2702. FD are one of mine and ,to be honest, they have been really good.I would change you account IMMEDIATLY to the A &L one and make a token payment to FD and explain that you are on a DMP and you will be contacting them shortly. Are you doing your own or are you going through Payplan/CCCS etc ?. If you are with the mentioned companies you will have a ref number that you can quote in all letters to FD. Never have your main account with one of your creditors as they can take money from one account to subsidize another.
Good luck. Hi to everyone else. Are you well ????

Evening ym, how's you?
louloujs - A DMP definitely shows on your credit file as you being on an agreement with each lender, some might even default you.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
thanks
TSB aren't stopping anything and Marbles have started charging again at some point.
I may try and claim back my charges on my cc's that 5 in total0 -
hi all
hope everyone has enjoyed christmas.
Just about to pay month 8 on dmp with cccs thanks to this site and advice would never have even know what to do about debt level.
I wondered if anyone could offer any advice as hubby has overdraft which is included in dmp and they are still charging interest (which is more then offered amount) however as he has now gone over his authorised overdraft because they are taking interest charges, they are charging £15.00 per day up to 10 times a month, and also other charges or about £18.00 per month so almost £200 per month by our guess.
We have rang the branch they referred us to collection dept, we rang them they referred us to another dept and when i rang them they said sorry will only speak with debt managment companies only. I rang cccs and they said they would send another letter asking for interest freezing etc.
I really do not know where to go with this as it is so excessive the charges and they can see we have been paying dmp for 8 months. Hubby is going into the branch on Monday to try and get through to them but i dont thing they will help, they will just refer him to collections again i think.
Do you think we could claim back these charges? at this rate whilst we have paid off £2,800 on our plan it will soon be less with these charges.
I cant let this drag me down.
thanks for any advice or help and sorry for the moan.
best wishes to all
bye for now.0 -
I am in exactly the same position as you... my bank are still charging interest and unauthorised overdraft fees. They've explained that this will continue until the account fully defaults and is sent to a debt collection agency.
Which I believe they are in the process of doing now. I will be attempting to claim my charges back because all they are doing is increasing my debt and why not try and claim them - if they say no then fair do's but they might just say Yes and then that's more to come off your debt! (and I know it shouldn't be there in the first place!)
Well done on tackling your debt!:T0 -
how do people account for some of their outgoings?
There doesn't seem to be much of a leg room really. I have rent down as more than it is and my wages down as less, food down as more and spread around £40 over the other items otherwise I'd have no money for anything else.I use my own spreadsheet to keep track of everything and look to have around £300 after bills left to include food.0 -
hi,
debragg...quik word re the outgoings.its good that you want to throw as much as you can at your debts but would advise not to stint on everything as there will be no leeway for emergencies, which youll get cos you cant rely on c/cs anymore.i air on the safe side when doing budgets so i always know ill be able to afford the dmp payment whatever, so then youll be a regular payer instead of having to revise your dmp every other month.you can always save any extra money in a savings a/c so you can pay a lunp sum to one of your debts in the future.with your budget id tell them you only have 250 not 300 cos then if you have an emergency you will be okay.dont feel bad about a little white lie cos lots of ppl do that.what if rent goes up or white goods /car/ etc breaks down/ presents.
hope ive been helpful and you get what i mean.

btw....how dare these comps ask ppl to pay to stop interest and charges.???if you are brave....tell them you will see them in court, then they will have to stop all charges and accept whatever the judge says as a payment forever till paid up.okay, its a ccj but thats as bad as a default on your cred history which is shot anyway.
and claim all the bank charges back from these comps...they are profitting from your financial misery...and thats illegal and the courts dont like it either.
