  • Hi Dogbot,

Big welcome to you. I don't have to deal with MBNA, but i have the next worse one Lloyds owe them big money.

  • Hi Dogbot,

Welcome! I have MBNA as a creditor too, make my first payment to Payplan on 16th of this month so I am sure fun and games will start soon enough. I know they are quick enough to refer to collections just being one month behind so no illusions that they will throw everything at me!

Good luck with everything, I myself have just over £61K so a long road ahead also.

    Take care x

Hi all, hope everyone is ok and the phones are quiet ;)

Just had a call from Mint - rang me at work. Now here is why I am surprised...

When I started the DMP Mint refused to reply to any letter, when I wrote about the DMP - nothing, when I asked them to confirm they'd received my letter - nothing, when I asked them to update my loan to my married name and confirm - nothing (in fact I wrote 3 times to ask for that and still nothing), missed payment just before the DMP - nothing.

So out of the blue they ring.

Told me the reduced payment arrangement was for 6 months.
I asked how exactly I would have known that since they have never written to me or replied to any letters?
Well we would have replied to your "third party". Will you be able to increase payments.
Nope. Told them I've just done and up to date budget with CCCS and they have the details.
When do you "foresee" that you will be able to increase payments.
I don't. If I changed my job it would be for lower wage so I can't see any increase happening.
Oh she said. Well I'll contact CCCS for the updated budget and go from there then.
    Thanks bye!

How would I have known the arrangement was for 6 months only when they have never ever written to me, never taken the common courtesy to acknowledge any letter I sent them?

    Hey DOGBOT !!!
Right heres the low down on MBNA..... I been in receipt of letters offering me a partal settlement. Long story short it was agreed over telephone that they will honour a 3 installment agreement. I haven't had it honoured in writing bar hem sending me bog standard letters causing me unneccessary stress
I have sent letters asking for this in writing otherwise they wont get the money etc. Guess what i have heard nothing so i'am drafting a new letter today :D .... Be shrewd and play them at here own game.
I also have a facilitie on my mobile where i can record telephone conversation's which is very handy when talking to them. Good tool to have if you've got it though !!!

I haven't been harrassed by MBNA via telephone just letter really but the problem with them is i just do not trust any thing agreed via telephone. They seem to be hesitant in putting anything in writing so i have good cause to be concerned havent I !!! :o

uuuuummmmmm well lets see how it goes because they want payment in November and if i dont get a letter with key words like honoured installments. last installent of xxx.no futher pursue of debt by us or any other third party .... full and final settlement on credit history etc .....then BYE BYE !!!

Take care and hope it goes well for you.

  • HI, Welcome from me too. The MBNA crew is just getting bigger, you can vent as much frustration as you need here and I am sure everyone will nod in agreement. I wish MBNA would sell my debt, but in 2.5 years no such luck Still no interest frozen on my account either and in all honesty Payplan havent really done much for any of my creditors on that score. All negotiating has been done by me in my BRAVE moments. I am currently awaiting (.....jilly chews another nail...) for a letter telling me what they will offer if anything at all...... Keep your spiritis up, saying out loud that you need help and are putting future plans in place, for however long they take, you are halfway there. Good luck.

    hi all
i have not posted for a while as i wanted a break from constantly thinking about dmp (hubby said it was all i talked about and we have agreed to discuss it together once a week) I am only trying to help the family and I sorted out all the dmp so i was a bit annoyed with him really.
I do feel you need support of this board (i do anyway).
On the dmp side we have made 6 payments now to cccs and balance has reduced cccs information is that we have paid back over £2,000 but when i corrected creditor balances with addition interest added it was £1,800 annoying but creditors can do what they like in terms of interest charges. Anyway it is a positive step a long way to go 2023 same time my mortgage is paid. I look at it in terms of each day now.

Some creditors still not accepted and are charging interest of half interest. Others have stopped all interest and accepted.
    take care all
    bye for now.
  • Evening all,
Hope everyone is having lovely weekends. I am having me a very chilled one this weekend relaxing as ran the Great South Run last weekend and I think it has taken me most of the week to recover. Must increase fitness for next year!!

Not a lot happening on creditor front, no real hassle although had a few missed calls on mobile from one number. Assume it is a creditor. Just looking forward to making my first payment to Payplan and finally getting this under way.

Anyhow off to bed now and looking forward to a nice lie in tomorrow. Take care x
  • Hi all,

Always something keeps me awake with this debt...a bit depressed.

I came across a good broadband deal but with my DMP status, I'm not sure at all if I'd be rejected. Just wondering if anyone here had positive/negative experiences?

    Cheers!
