Thanks Rayday. I think I def will open one, will help budget/save for things.
Much appreciated. x
As regards the savings account, I don't think there is a problem - I have a savings account with a company I am repaying - they have never said anything, and if they did, i would say that lots of things on my SOA are monthly amounts, but have to be paid annually (car tax, new pair of glasses etc). Not that there is that much in there !
As regards phone calls at 8am, I did get a few at the beginning, while things were being set up, and I told them that I left the house at 7.30am and that I now lived with my mother (both true) and that she was elderly and infirm (not strictly true) and if they continued to make phone calls at this time in the knowledge that they would only get answered by an old lady who had to get out of bed & downstairs to answer, that I would take this further. They did not call again.
You guys are worrying me with your MBNA stories. Other than being very slow to give their acceptance of my offer, they have been OK. Interest was frozen and no phone calls for the last 2 years. I did notice only recently that they continued to charge PPI, even though I had written to cancel it and they had called me to tell me they had cancelled it (this was over 2 years ago). I wrote to them yesterday to ask them to refund the 2 years worth. Am now a bit worried they will get funny about it and start charging interest again. I saw another post that said that they had been sent a letter from MBNA saying that the minimum payment they had to make was 5% - that would be very scary [STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0 -
Just finished my SOA for my creditors and I think I may be jiggered. It would appear that we only have £300 a month to pay debts that are currently £1700. So in real terms, hand on heart, head out of the sand, what chance have I got of my creditors accepting payments that will be less than 25% of the original repayments.
Sorry haven't posted on here before but you lot look like you've room for all whaifs and strays.
We owe a total of 17,000 and in total for all our creditors we have about £40 a month, it just illustrates how long you have been trying to keep the balls up in the air. Don't loose faith you can only try, it may take longer than you feel comfortable with but at reducded amounts it is less of a millstone than it is now!0 -
Miss Marple this forum basically contains the worst news possible about creditors otherwise we would not all be here lol! Capquest have a terrible reputation if you are bored search the forum and you will see, I sent them one letter and they accepted my payment of £2.08 straight away until 2046 - so for me personally they are not as bad as some people experience!0

Just found this whilst browsing.

Very apt apart from the last paragraph. No mention of the free DMPcompanys

The vast majority of people have only considered either debt consolidation loans or IVAs, very few people know about DMPs and even less know that there are free ways of doing it or that it is possible to do it yourself.
Quite sad really, I guess I am a bit passionate about spreading the word!0 -
Hi All
Hope you are well? Just thought i'd see how you all are.....looks like you are plodoong along all ok!
I'm just here for another moan really and to ask a couple of Qs.
Firstly i'm not handling this budgeting concept very well. I still want to go out and have a good time so my house mate will lend me some money to go out and when Payday comes I have to pay it back! And so the vicious (sp) will carry on!
Anyway my question was I now have a part time (casual) job in town and after xmas I will be in a position where i can start saving some of it. Do I have to tell Payplan about this? I figure not really as it's only casual and could only last till xmas!
If I managed to save a few quid can I tell payplan I won it and pay a lump sum off my debt?
Thanks :TIn debt no more!0 -
I would like you said keep quiet, casual jobs can't be classed as income for mortgages so I would argue the same for a payment plan - but I am naughty!0
-
Hi,
I mentioned extra income to payplan as I now and again get projects for work which gives me chance to earn an extra £500 a month. She said that as it is not a regular income it is up to me what I choose to do with it. Basically said that I could spend it, save it or spend half and give half to payplan to distribute to creditors. When I get any extra I have decided to save it and then when I have a lump sum to offer I will advice payplan and go from there. I really don't think you have to worry too much, like you say it is casual work and therefore could end at any time.0 -
Afternoon all,
Hope everyone is well after the past blip on site.
I have to say I did kind of miss it a little. It's always nice just logging on to see who is about and what news people have.
I have received two nice letters from my creditors HSBC and EGG so far. Both
saying that they will not request payment on my accounts for 28 days until and that they await my budget and offer of payment which payplan will be sending to them after 16th November when I make my first payment. I have however had 3 missed calls today from an unknown number and I am assuming it is a creditor of some kind, lucky for me I can't answer my mobile at work!!
On another note, since finally taking the big step and feeling that I am on the road to clearing my debts I find myself thinking/planning for the future far more than I ever have in my entire life. Even thinking about my retirement...I am only 29! Still from my experience and from now on I think careful planning in the finance department is a must!!!!
Anyway, enough yapping from me. Take care x0 -

I've had several calls on my mobile from this number today; 08453004275. When i've rung it back on my works phone (very MSE!!) it says it's my "Bank" (don't know which one!) and i will here from them in the next couple of days! But when i google it, it comes up with "SCAM, BEWARE!!"
Has anyone else had this??
Cheers
I've had this number ring my mobile today. Likewise when I called back from a landline the recorded message said that I had been called by "my bank".
Hello? Which one? I have more than one.
If they ring again I might answer and challenge them about this. But no way am I giving them any details over the phone.0
