  • This is my first posting.I'm £30k in debt and have just signed my paperwork to begin my DMP. I've buryed my head in the sand for years but am no longer in denial,i want to sort my debts, and have come clean to my partner of 6yrs,who was much more understanding than i expected. What should i expect from my creditors to start with (i have quite a few)? Should i write to them or leave it all to my DMC? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated! This looks to be a great website!
    Thanks

Hi NoMore - welcome to the DMP thread. Well done for fessing up to your partner - I know how hard that is!! Glad they were understanding.

Hope you are with a non-fee charging company such as Payplan or CCCS? If not, then contact Payplan or CCCS and your debt will be paid off quicker as there is no monthly fee. ;)

With CCCS they included a letter in your welcome pack which says what you should write to your creditors - just saying you are starting a DMP and why you need a DMP and giving the reference number for the DMP so they can get in touch with the DMC if they wan to ;)

    hi all!

It's quite amazing really, i'm quite supprised of the lack of communication in a company!! I emailed cahoot about the interest they were charging me and they were unanware that i was with payplan! Well duh! I've lost out on blummin £300 here!!

Thanks to Rayday for the advice on writing to them! Phew, that's a weight lifted off!
    In debt no more!
  • Hello

I have just started a DMP with PayPlan and Cahoot is one of my creditors. Payplan advised me to cancel my direct debit for Cahoot so I did. Cahoot tried to take the DD and becuase it failed charged me £30. Interest is still being addedd. What did you e-mail them and what was the outcome of your e-mail?

Really nervous at the minute, can't focus on anything else. So scared of CCJ and Charging orders and everyhting else that will come with a DMP.

    Thanks in advance
