  • I have received a response from the halifax today saying that they feel that their charges are fair and I will not be receiving any money blah blah.

When I called the customer relations to say that they had paid out over £1 million pounds to other people so I want mine or I will take you to court, the lady on the other end of the phone said that I could appeal.

What should I do appeal or just start court action?????

Been following this forum for a while, however this is my 1st post, so please be kind to me!!
Sent off my £10 cheques and letters re statements on April 12th, but have not heard anything from Barclays Bank or RBS Advanta credit card. I didnt send them recorded delivery as i only thought of doing so after i'd posted them. What do i do now as the 40 days was up last week, i was thinking of ringing them, but i dont know where to ring and they will probably say they havent received anything. Do i send another request by recorded delivery to them, thereby starting at the beginning again?
Also Yorkshire Bank have sent us a letter acknowledging our request, but due to the high level of requests, will not be able to supply info by the deadline and they state the 40 days starts from them cashing the £10 cheque, (which they didnt cash until 23rd April) and they realise would could report them to the information commissioner and ask for our patience. What do we do now? If we repeort them and it went to court it would look bad on us, i dont mind waiting, but how long, they could do this indefinately as they have not stated how long it will take.

Just bumping this up in hope someone can advise me.

I am trying to claim £9922 from HSBC, with the 8 weeks up next week. Can anyone tell me the e mail address for them, as I'm impatient, and will e mail them as well as trying to get thru to the call centre that would be quicker to walk to!! Cheers

good luck, im still waiting have got another 5 weeks for reply. i feel very tempted to go straight to next stage and threaten to take them to court, as in my initial letter i said i wanted a full response within 2 weeks (template letter) i waited initially 50 days for bank statements to be sent, so i feel that it should be counted from that date. anyway this is the e mail address i have got for them : servicequality@hsbc.com

Check the HSBC thread for people in a similar position. 8 weeks after your first letter asking for charges back does actually seem to be the norm. Up to you both how you want to proceed. A lot of people are saying stick to your own timetable rather than theirs which is true. Your more likely to get it all if you go down the court route, but it looks like you will receive an offer after 8 weeks, although it may not be all you want. Everyone going throught the process with HSBC is in the same position

Thanks i have been reading through so many threads, i can see hsbc are now telling everyone eight weeks, its hard to decide what the best thing to do, will i get it sorted more if i proceed now but in this case i could get their backs up even more, or just patiently wait, the thing is it takes them no time to take out their charges but when we want our money back they drag their heels. another sleepless night wondering what i should do, if i had money to fall back on it i wouldn t be in such a hurry, oh well i can try lottery again:rotfl:

I have gone through the process of reclaiming bank charges from Barclays to the tune of £4,660 (excluding interest, which I have not claimed to keep claim below £5,000), receiving one settlement offer of about £1700 which I turned down. Filed MCOL claim, after 13 days Barclays requested extension of 2 weeks, during which time they filed a defence.

I have forms to fill in by June 6, court date is not set, but will be in local court of Kingston.

I would very much like to get properly prepared. Have followed links below, which are great. Any assistance would be great. I understand martin is preparing info on what to bring and how to prepare, which I look forward to.

I can submit full defence by Barclays if anyone is interested, about 6 points in a page of verbiage. Please excuse me if this post is placed in wrong thread.

You must make sure you exhaust it internally first with your bank, have you sent the LBA yet? If so stick to the timescale you gave them and go ahead with court, if not, you must be able to show the court that you have tried to reach an agreement before you claim.

You put the name of the bank and the head office address.

Sorry to be thick but I don't have the Head Office address on any statements from HSBC. Do you mean my branch or their London HQ (the address for which doesn't seem to be on their website)? Whats the easiest way to find it out?
