Hello All,
not sure if this is the right post to place my query, but here goes.
I am currently a Barclays Current Account holder and have been for well over 28 years. This week £1000 was mistakenly taken out of account (SO from Halifax) which left me overdrawn by £10 over the overdradft limit. This was the first time this has happened since I joined Barclays. I have now been charged £22 for this..
I phoned Barclays and complained and was told to wait between 2 - 3 working days for the outcome.
What are the chances of the reimbursement of this?
thanks0 -
In the last 12 months alone I have received just under £2400 in charges.
I am with Natwest.
I have no long term loans or credit cards, I do have one or two CCJs (not sure how many as I have moved address and they haven't caught up with me yet (paperwork). I do however use a cash til payday service and as a result I have £700 go out of my account every month which will go out on the day I get paid which will then normally result in charges for anything else that goes out that day!
In 2006 I reclaimed £2300 with my current account.
I am now fighting a losing battle with Natwest and I will regularly get a £35 charge for a "garuanteed payment" of £5 or so.
This is all causing me great distress and depression and I am desperate to try and reclaim the charges from at least the last 12months but I'm trying to find out what the quickest way is to do so. I can't imagine Natwest offering me the best advice if I was to call them!
So please please if anyone can help please get in touch with me, I really am desperate to sort this. I was paid on Friday (28th) and I am already £500 overdrawn (I have no agreed overdraft) which includes about £200 charges already. It really is hell!
Thank you in advance
Kind Regards

Hi, I reclaimed my charges back in 2006 and signed the agreement with the Halifax. Just been greeted with 2 more charges. Have just rung the bank to ask if either they would waiver the charges or take them at a later date. Was told that as I signed an agreement 2 years ago there is nothing they can do to help me. Is this right? Does it now mean they can charge me what they like and I can't claim it back? Please help as I really can@t afford to pay out 70.00 this week.0

Stop using cash till payday. (I know not that easy once you are in a circle but you have to break the circle at some point before it breaks you)
Get out of Natwest to put a halt on the charges - open a basic account for your income and get Natwest to chuck your overdraft over to collections and offer a monthly affordable payment on that. Pro-active - dont just sit and wait for letters. Write to them and tell them you want to sort your debt out and that the overdraft is in dispute due to bank charges and you would like them back please - you shouldnt have a problem as your charges outweigh the amount you owe them.
Don;t get a new overdraft at the new bank and set up your DD's/SO's etc to go out on a day just after payday.
Also if you can help it, don't use your debit card for small transactions - live cash - then you know exactly where you are all the time.
Yes making the changes will give you a month of hell and repaying the payday loan will be a nightmare, but your credit rating sounds like its not too much of an issue, and if you don't break the circle things can only go downhill. Keep them informed all the time - they may ignore and threaten but the paperwork will all be in order if anyone tries to go to court.
I don't know your income status/mortgage/family etc and would need to go through your full IE to advise any deeper, but I do think that is the way you need to go - posting on here is a great start - break the circle and get the overdraft in dispute and the charges claimed back.
