  • I too have been sent a statement to complete from HBOS but I don't wnat to give them all my personal info. I am not claiming hardship but claiming that their charges are unfair. Am I right to refuse to submit it?
  • Hi has anyone had any success from a company who does the claim process for you?

    Hi

Has anyone like myself been successful claiming charges back from ALLIANCE & LEICESTER?

If you have, like myself, i'm wondering how many people have had a letter from them this week saying that their complaint is 'still on hold' pending the court case that is pending.

I got back £6k...................wonder if the ruling goes in our favour will they be paying me again??????

I've been waiting almost a year for my charges to come back... I'd made the claims before the whole ruling thing. What do I do?
  • I have just contacted HSBC with regard to the hardship clause. My husband was made redundant two weeks ago and we have a claim from when they put it on hold - 18 months ago? They are now sending out the forms. I will update you with all proceedings.

Haven't read this thread recently, but is anyone else getting more and more dubious that the courts will find against the banks? With the financial meltdown and governments paying taxpayers money INTO banks to keep the market stable, and with our government bypassing monopolies considerations in allowing Lloyds TSB to snaffle up HBOS is there really any chance any longer that the banks will be forced to pay out millions in compensation for past wrongdoing?

For an industry that has gleefully charged us £29 + every time we have slipped into the red because of our lack of fiscal provenance, it's pretty rich that they now need rescuing from their own financial stupidity - I'd say they had less excuse than the rest of us.
  • My bank has offered to pay back the bank charges (slightly less then what I asked for) but haven't decided to pay back the interest that I also asked for.

I asked for charges & interest under the hardship ruling.

What I would like to know is, should I accept the offer?

Thank you for anyone who can help me.

Asking for the interesst is always a good move. sometimes they will pay out but i have to say they do not have to pay the interest by law UNLESS you reach the stage of taking court action.
So if the banks offer is pretty close to what you asked for then you may want to consider taking the offer, as if you do push for the interest and take them to court many judges would only see it as greed and may even award you less.

Also you may want to ask them why the total is not as much as you asked for. They may even pay you the full amount.

    Good luck ;)

I too have been thinking this.

looks like we will have a long wait to find out though. everything seems to have gone quiet regarding bank charges. even mr lewis doesnt seem to talk about it anymore.

we can only hope that as every one seems to be sinking into a financial mess the courts will rule against the banks and in favour for the rest of us.
