I'm sicerely hoping it will go in our favour. Especially as most of the major banks have royally cocked up and have had to go begging to the government. Hopefully heads will roll at the banks now.
The other side of the coin is always the banks will plead poverty.
But hopefully mr lewis will keep his campaign going.0 -
Hi, am new to all of this!! have worked out my charges with interest for the last 6 years they came to just over £5500.00, I have sent my first letter off with all the charges listed, have received a reply today from barclays stating quite strongly that they will not be refunding any of my charges! Is it still worth me trying to reclaim them???0

After recently making my second claim from Halifax i accidently went just £4 overdrawn and recieved an email telling me i had an online letter of bank charges notification as usual, and was then very shocked and pleased to read "We are writing to tell you that you have gone over your agreed overdraft limit. However, because you currently do not have to pay fees, we have not charged you for this., we will not take our usual fees from your account."
well well....some sensible news from Halifax at last.:TNot just a white vanman:cool:
I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.
Nicknamed Victor Meldrew among friends as i love to complain;)0 -
Hiya, ive been made an offer for £1900 of the £3400 i claimed for back in june 2007.Because of the hold i had to go down the financial hardship case route. After waiting 2 months from when i sent my own and the banks financial expenditure form i called the bank 2day 2 get an answer.A letter has been sent out to me for an offer of £1900, i want and need the full amount. Has anyone else been in the same situation and stuck 2 there guns 4 the full amount. I dont want to ruin my chances but want a fairer deal.
Any advice would be brill!!

Hi
what is the financial hardship route please? I am getting no where with Lloyds TSB0 -
Hi
Only just started on this forum so sorry if i'm in the wrong place.
Sent off my 2 letters to Nationwide requesting back £3,000 in fees over the last 6 years. I asked if they would deal with my query due to hardship. I had a letter back stating that they would pay me back £120 as there were only 3 months that i was overdrawn due to not enough funds going in the rest of the time it was because i withdrew money before all my DD have gone out.
What do i do now? Does the fact they have paid something mean that that is it? Any suggestions very welcome0 -
I am new to this site and have read and re-read everything! I have done my 2 data Protection letters for Egg and Halifax and have got my statements etc all ready with my letter to Lloydstsb. I was just wondering whether it is worth setting up a second account somewhere as I am worried that Lloydstsb will close the account as its £400 O/d (but not over limit which is £500). There is so much information on here that I have just got myself into knots with all the different things!
Also can you reclain the charges on cards/accounts that are closed?0 -

Hi, I am new to this site and I am a bit confused with what to do with my situation.
I have actually in the past managed to successfully claim back over £140 in bank charges from the RBS. I am still with them (which is probably my biggest mistake).
I was doing OK keeping within the agreed overdraft limit and avoided any further charges until recently. I had organised a temporary extension to my overdraft in order to purchase a car and the agreement I had with them was that the overdraft would be paid back in full upon the sale of my old car.
My overdraft to start off with was £250, and it was increased to £2000. It stayed like that for about 2 months, and then all of a sudden I tried to pay for fuel with my debit card and it was refused! I got home to a letter from the bank claiming that I had incurred a charge. I checked my account on-line, and it was overdrawn by £1400 (I was still over £600 within the agreed temporary limit).
I argued with the bank over the phone that they had not informed me before cancelling the over draft. I incurred £120 in charges over a 2 day period, and after 2 more calls to the customer service centre for RBS, they miraculously re instated my overdraft but refused to refund the charges! I managed to sell my old car and the overdraft has now been repaid, but the bank is adamant that they are not going to refund the charges.
I am now in the + and intend to stay there, however, should I write another letter and try to reclaim these charges, as I don't think they are fair. The bank never made any effort to contact me by either phone or by post before cancelling my overdraft, so surely they should be responsible for these charges. If they had informed me that they were going to remove the facility I would have been able to make arrangements to get money elsewhere to repay the overdraft immediately.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :cool:0 -
