  • Been trying to claim £5000 in bank charges from Barclays under the financial Hardship clause. This has been ongoing for about 8 weeks now with my husband ringing daily. Were up for repossesion next month and the bank charges would help us keep our home. Barclays have offered us £500 today!!! theres no way we are going to accept that does anyone know what we shoud do now. I can honeslty say Barclays are the worst people we have ever ever dealt with.
  • I am new to the foru!! I was just wondering I have already claimed for bank charges but i have been charged again over past year can I claim them charges back even though I have already put in a claim
    hope someone can help!!!!!
  • Hi - i am in the process of trying to recover my Abbey Bank Charges of £6500! under financial hardship. Sent all my details, then chased them up with a letter and STILL not a word - what next? can they just ignore me like this??
  • can any one help? i thought that if a building society or bank took over £500 in a year charges- you can claim them back as it has become law? :money: please help
  • Hi everyone, I would be grateful of any advice anyone can give with regards to reclaiming charges from nationwide bs. I have sent 2 letters to them now, and last week received a reply stating that as my outgoings were more than my incomings in june 2008 they will refund the charges from that month of £120.00. Now I am really confused as my outgoings have been more than my incoming for months now so why they chose that particular month I don't know. My original letter was a claim for £2,220. What do I do now? Do I need to send another letter back stating that I am claiming the rest also? Or do I need to go to the court level? Thanks for any help:confused:

I wonder if anyone can help as I'm a little confused. My mother made her claim last year before the court cases and the claim was stayed. However now through change of circumstances she is now in great financial difficulty. please can you advice how we now change the claim for hardship reason. do we write to the court or the bank?

  • I've been waiting nine months for a response to my claim for £1200 under the hardship clause. Everytime I've called Halifax they've said that they're reviewing my case but they can't give me a time scale about when they'll have made a decision.

Do you think that they're just stalling? Should I take it to the FOS?
    £2 sealed tin - ???/£200
    Tips/Service charge sealed tin - ???/£1000
    Halifax CC 9.9% - Sept 2008 = £550
    Parental Loan - Sept 2008 = £3200

Has anyone had experience of claiming back bank charges more than once on the same account. I claimed over £1000 of charges back from the Halifax at the start of 2007 (before the test case started and all claims went on hold) and they paid up. I have since racked up several hundred pounds more of charges due to financial hardship. Can I put in a second claim for these recent charges? Has anyone else ever claimed twice on the same account after they were initially refunded charges? Thanks for any advice and experiences you can share.

I claimed and won about 75% of the charges a couple of years ago. I have seen on my bank statement I have charges of over £75.00. I phoned up HSBC who just told me when and how much I was overdrawn past my overdraft. The nice lady said she is going to send me a pre formatted form to fill out and return. I am also sending a primary letter of approach with these charges shown on the statement. Would be interesting on the outcome.

Has anyone else been successful in a 2nd claim on the same account?

Attitude: !!!!!! it - I'm going for it! You don't win if you don't try.

All the people i know who claimed twice subsequently had their accounts closed by the bank.

You may need to open a 'parachute' account (spare account) at another bank if you plan to proceed but still need an account.
