hi there, hope you can help I`m in the process of sending off my bank statements to reclaim bank charges however i have 2 account one with halifax and other with bank of scotland is it best to pu them both together or do them seperate? also i am claiming charges as notified on my statements, can i also claim ... interest debited ?? thank you

    Hi there.

This is 2 different banks so I would say 2 separate claims.

Don't think you can claim interest though. You can claim for each individual charge for returned payments and also for going overdrawn/over your agreed overdraft limit. Then use the calculator to charge interest on each individual charge (If you wish to charge them interest).

    Hope this helps

hi there, hope someone can help me with this, i sent off a letter to nationwide building society reclaiming £1350 in charges, im in financial hardship, but had a reply back from them today saying that they after concidering my case for financial hardship they will not be paying me back my charges because i have not had any money paid into the bank for a while.

i now have my i.s paid into another bank. i dont know what to do now, i had the second letter all ready to send off if i had a refusal but its stopped me in my tracks now.

should i print off bank statemants from my halifax bank account showing my i.s and what i pay out of it.

    any advice helps.

    thannk you all!

Just because you have not had any money paid into your account recently means nothing. Some people have even reclaimed money from accounts that have been closed for a few years, so you should continue with your claim and get back what is yours.

As for showing them statements from Halifax..i wouldnt bother. Its got nothing to do with them.

    Good luck

we can only hope that as every one seems to be sinking into a financial mess the courts will rule against the banks and in favour for the rest of us.

Since it's been over a year - perhaps more - I can't wait to see how much interest I've gotten.
  • Hi, am hoping for some advice. I bank with HSBC and claimed back around £800 in chrges 18 months ago. I have recently noticed HSBC have started charging arrangement fees for returned DD's etc and these have been totalling up to around £100 per month. I am wondering if because I have claimed back before does this mean I can't claim again? Also because they have reworded it to arrangement fees does this make any difference or can I still claim it all back? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  • So, with everything going belly up, how does everyone thing this will effect claims?

My friend has an account with the Halifax and has recently has a charge of £35.00 applied because a company took a direct debit 6 days earlier than they were meant to  ! Is £35.00 the normal amount for Halifax charges?

I apologise if this message has went in the wrong place - I have not used the site for a while (although I have been reading messages, on my sister's behalf, every day with interest)
  • A few months ago i applied to Yorkshire Bank for my charges to be refunded and received a part payment under financial hardship. Since then i have incurred more charges. Can i add these onto my previous claim and if so, do i send them a list of all my charges, including the charges they are already aware about, or do i just advise them of my new ones? I will not receive another payout before the test case has been decided but i have since changed bank accounts and transferred all my direct debits and cleared my overdraft off so dont anticipate receiving any more charges from them in the future.

I havent done this my self but would hold out for full amount.

did you go through financial ombudsman?

You could try the without prejudice route saying you will accept this as part payment towards the amount you are claiming but would expect the remainder within 14 days or going to ombudsman. Use template letter on this website

hope tihs helps a little bit.
