Have you completed the forms and evidence and sent it all back to them.

No, I only got it today. I have completed it this evening and will call them tomorrow, as instructed in the letter.

However, none of this helps with my refunding charges case. What's my next step? Press on with a small claims effort and join the back of the queue?

  • Hello there. I have a problem with BARCLAYS and need assistance. I started reclaiming last march for 3,900 gbp. My case was heard once and put on hold just as the charges case started so I waited patiently. Since April this year I have not been working as l have been caring for a family member. I requested a hardship form letter explaing my situation which I sent back to them but have heard nothing since. I have missed a couple of mortgage payments and had a few more default charges added. Now PERSONAL RESERVE has started I am now in debt by a larger amount of money. On the 27th Agust I received a letter rom Barclays saying my a/c has been closed and they do not accept any offer of repayment and the debt will be passed to a collection agency. Then, GET THIS, on the 3rd of September they have sent me another letter saying I ave gone a further 22gbp into debt onmy a/c. How can this be? I have got in touch with the litigation department twice now and am awaiting a call from someone to discuss this. I have been advised they have received the hardship letter. I was wondering if after all I have done if I can go to someone else to help me now. Like the F S A? I thought, bank charges aside, Barclays was a good bank. But now I am nt happy with the way I am being treated. Please help. I'm even considering showing the press these letters I have been sent.
  • Does anyone know how long it usually takes a bank to get back to you with an answer to a complaint of bank charges after sending in the financial expenditure forms claiming under financial hardship? I sent my form in july and not heard a thing as of yet.I rang Abbey 2weeks ago and was told they are working on my case. How long does it take for them to come up with a decision,as if it isnt obvious already.

    Cheers!

Long story but i sent off claiming financial hardship at end of july. they kept on moving the goal post telling me another few weeks and so on. so on monday i filled in an N1 claim form from county court website and printed it of and sent a copy to the bank saying i would send it to court and claim interest to on friday (tomorrow) unless they settle. just called today and they have already sent me a letter offering full and final payment of just over £1700. im only claiming for £1600.

Just hang in there people. they will crumble in the end.:T

  • my daughter , 21years, went over her £50 overdraft with Lloyds TSB by £1. She has not used the account since and says all she owes is £51. Since then they have been loading her account with charges She has asked then to close her account ,She moved to HSBC but they refused to do so until she has paid the charges , They now say she owes £811. This is making her ill

    Any advice?

your daughter needs to get hold of all her bank statements to make sure this is totally built up of bank charges and then write to the bank and point out that this amount is solely from charges due to going just £1 over the o/d.

she really should have contacted them before this, but never mind..im sure the bank will come to thier senses and cancel the charges.
If these charges are her only charges she has encured with them then she should also point this out to them and tell them how shocked she is that they could do this to her.

    Good luck:T

you dont have to go to the financial ombudsman.
write to your bank and request that they deal with your case as financial hardship. use martins letters in the step by step guide to help.
i have used my local county court with both of my claims and won.

    Good luck :T
