  • Just copy out the charges items and send it with the letter. If he is claiming interest there is a calculator on the reclaim page where you enter the dates and charges which you just send off with the template letter.

  • HI,
Can anyone give me a bit of advice please? My husband has a current account with the Alliance & Leicester, he tried to transfer a small sum of money on a Sunday night, and it said it would go through the next working day. So he checked his balance on the Monday to find it hadn't gone out of his account. He made the transfer again, only to find on the Tuesday that the money had come out, his transfer that he instructed on Monday had bounced, and sent him £25 overdrawn. He phoned the Alliance & Leicester the same night, and was told the charges would be refunded as he had never gone overdrawn before. So he thought no more of it. He checked his bank account a few days later, and he had been charged £5 a day for the inconvienience of going overdrawn. He phoned again to find that the decision to refund his charges had gone to an internal department and may take up to 2 weeks for the refund to take place. In the meantime, more charges of £5 a day are going onto his account. Today we received a letter riddled with confusing comments about how all refunds have been placed on stop until a dispute with the Office of Fair Trading has taken place and a ruling given out. And that this applies to everyone, and they do not know when the ruling decision will take place? What do we do now? Do we send a letter off to complain and ask for the charges to be refunded now, or do we ring them again, only to be told we have to wait another 2 weeks whilst their internal department assess the complaint? I've never heard of this before, and I'm worried that for the sake of £25, we'll end up having to pay back hundreds, it's up to £150 as it is! Any help anyone can give us woulod be gratefully received!

Excellent TinTin. That's the first success story I have seen on this site with Abbey. Makes me feel better about my claim I submitted with them ages ago which is now on hold.

Agreed maybe they are actually pulling there finger out of there asses and starting to do the right thing, they have just ignored everything i have sent replied once with a standard letter, been stayed for over a year funnily enough as soon as i did MCOL they replied on there in like 1 day..

lets hope some more people here from the worst bank in the counrty very soon

    Congratulations to you !
  • Hi, quick question really.

I have just received a £30 charge for my account going overdrawn for like, a day. Is there any chance of getting this charge back? It's pretty disgusting that they have charged me a full £30 again when they say they only need to take £!2 nowadays, which is still a joke.

Any help or advice on what to do would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi all

I'm currently going through the MCOL system to claim back my charges. I wondered if anyone knows how long a County Court has to deal with it as mine has been going on for about 7 weeks now and when i phoned my local Court to whom the case had been transferred (Bromley if anyone is interested!) they said that an allocation questionnaire had been advised to be sent to me about 3 weeks ago but i've heard nothing.

They basically said that it's up to the Judge as to when he deals with individual cases!!. The defendants, Cahoot, wrote to me 2 weeks ago offering me half of what i claimed which i have turned down. In their letter they advised me if i wanted to settle out of court for this amount ''to save them additional expenses'' i should reply by 4.00pm today, which i have done. I was wondering is this the date that has been set by the court for a decision to be made or is this likely to go on for a few more weeks before a conclusion is reached?

Anyone who has been through MCOL i'd be interested to hear from as to how long your claim took to be settled?

    Thanks a lot
