• My wife sent her claim form to Barclays. They replied to say she will get nothing. Is this a standard reply and does she need to threaten court action??
Cheers.

• Hi all, sorry if this has been covered but there are a lot of pages to go through.

I have been informed of charges from Yorkshire bank that have occured whilst waiting for a transfer from a bulding society into my main account. I was within my overdraft limit until a standing order was taken, I had thought the transfer would have been over in time but apparently not. Due to this I went £6 over my overdraft limit and have been charged £25.

I have gone through my internet banking and asked yorkshire if there is anything I can do to query/re-claim this charge as there was no physical way for me to rectify the account until the transfer went through as they have closed my two most local branches so it wasn't like I could even go into the branch and stick some money in. After four days of waiting I've had a standard reply that pretty much says "go overdrawn by any amount and we'll charge you."

I didn't know whether I would be able to reclaim as I'm not sure if this covers all banks and whether I'd get ignored for only claiming back £25, can anyone help?

Cheers

Can you still claim even though they have put everything on hold?

It all seems like such a long time ago that i had Barclays pay me back nearly £4000 and Halifax £270 in April last year. such a lot has changed now.

I have had just over £800 of charges since then on my account from halifax, i wrote to them a few weeks ago to ask for it back and received a three page letter telling me all about the "test case" and that they will not be paying out as a result(plus the fact that i had previously had charges returned).

Any idea as to my next step?
Do i send the next letter threatening court action?
Will i actually be able to start court action?
Has anyone had recent success with halifax?

Any help would be very greatfull.
many thanks.

I'm in the same position - Halifax told me that they're putting everything on hold.... Where does this leave me? Do I send the court letter / go straight to court?!

If you've heard anything please advise!!!

Thats the big question.
Its all changed since I first made a claim in april last year. The test case seems to have thrown a lot of confuson on the matter. Some banks seem to be paying out still and others have refused point blank to pay out.

Anyone else have a view on this????

• Despite lodging a claim for the bank charges to be refunded by Nationwide which resulted in an overdrawn balance (due WHOLLY to Charges, Interest etc) They Have employed debt collectors to pursue the total sum through legal channels plus costs. Am I likely to face judgment against me in court and have to restart my own claim once OFT make decision or does this suspension of claims apply to banks chasing outstanding charges from consumers like myself..,...Please help anybody!!!!!!!

• Hi

I am new to this site and have just joined the forum today. I'm thinking of trying to reclaim my bank charges for the past six years. I am currently with Barclays and have been since I was first able to have my own bank account so I am worried that if I go ahead and ask for the charges back they may shut my account down?

I'm also concerned that if I go ahead it may affect my chances of getting a mortgage in the future? I'm hoping to be able to get a house with my partner in the next year or two which is a big step to take! If this bank charge reclaiming works it would be a big help!

I have just sent off the template letters for three of my credit cards to reclaim charges from them and also PPI charges from my Barclaycard.

If anyone could give me some advice on reclaiming bank charges I would be most grateful. Many thanks :)
Barclaycard PPI £274.84: Currently with FOS
Barclaycard Fees £226.87: Still being hit with overlimit fees due to BC lowering limit
MINT £101.61: Accepted offer for £95.05! 17/08/08 :T
Abbey: Waiting for list of charges

For anyone who is not too sure of thier next step, aftrer the bank refuses to pay out because of the tes case....i have just had a PM from the man himself...Martin Lewis who says that unfortunatly they will not be dealing with claims till after the test case. so its now a case of sitting and waiting and letting the robbing little b@$!@&*$ take yet more money from our accounts until its all sorted and a decision is made.

I have just been charged £35 for a failed item of £2.05
