Barclays
Claimed £190 March 17th
Fobbed off with letter about all claims on hold.
Natwest
Claimed £490 March 17th
Fobbed off with another letter about claims on hold.
Am annoyed now because this Test Case has been appealed by the banks and this could take forever. May write a few more letters to them this month or consider without prejudice offer of £150 and £450 respectively and see if they pay up.0 -
Just joined the site and very encouraged at the results you are all getting. Myself and my husband have just started the process against Abbey by requesting back statements. Has anyone else had any luck with Abbey0

This is my first time posting, and I know that a lot of these questions have been asked before so apologies.
But I am currently overdrawn in my Alliance and Leicester account, and each time a DD or Standing Order comes out I am being charged £25.00.
I have written the letter, however, each day I seem to have another charge and so have to update the letter.
Should I just send one letter now and then another for other charges? Or should I wait until I have sorted the situation and then total all the charges up?
It's really upsetting cos it's now standing at £175.00 on a balance of -£500???
Any help would be really appreciated!

I have just joined this forum. on checking my bank account i have been charged £35 for a cheque which came of for £2.99! This cheque was late in being presented to my bank.
Please can you advise me what to do, except cry!!!0 -
It all seems like such a long time ago that i had Barclays pay me back nearly £4000 and Halifax £270 in April last year. such a lot has changed now.
I have had just over £800 of charges since then on my account from halifax, i wrote to them a few weeks ago to ask for it back and received a three page letter telling me all about the "test case" and that they will not be paying out as a result(plus the fact that i had previously had charges returned).
Any idea as to my next step?
Do i send the next letter threatening court action?
Will i actually be able to start court action?
Has anyone had recent success with halifax?
Any help would be very greatfull.
many thanks.Not just a white vanman:cool:

Hi Everyone. It's my first time posting on here.
I would like to know will I be able to reclaim on any unplanned overdraft charges? I bank with LloydsTSB, and recently they charged me £45 for unplanned overdraft(s).0 -
I have a query.
I had LOTS of charges on 2 bank accounts; 1 with Barclays and 1 with HSBC.
Both accounts were closed about 3 - 4 years ago.
Woud I still be able to claim some charges back from them?
Or would they dismiss it as the accounts are now closed?
Any ideas?0 -

yes you can claim back all of these charges. the Limitation Act 1980 allows you to reclaim them just so long as they are within the last six years. if they are older than six years then there are 'statute barred' and cannot be reclaimed.
if you check out Martins fantastic step by step guide on here then all will be explained.
good luck on getting back what is yours.

is this right what i have heard that varclays are going to reduce their rates in august to £8 before the results of the court cases0

if they do actually reduce their charges then good on them. but what ever you have been charged in the last six years you will still be able to reclaim at the amount they charged you.Not just a white vanman:cool:
