Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges article discussion Part II

Last year Abbey deposited £80 into my account, I wrote to them I would accept it but only in part payment of what they owed me, I never heard anymore then the court case started....can I still claim, they still owe me over £1000?
Provided you told the bank you were continuing with your claim then the bank should let you know what is happening once this case is over but it would do no harm for you to remind them of your claim.

when will the banks start letting the charges back through? i want to start claiming ack my charges but not sure how long we will have to wait. any advice greatfully recieved!
You should in fact start your claim now or earlier charges will be time barred.

Yes you can but be aware any monies reclaimed will be put towards any debt held by the cc company which will of course reduce your debt.0 -
could someone please explain to me how some people who
are putting in clsim letters from january this year are gwtting paid out if everything is on hold i started reclaiming last april sent the letters went through courts had it put on hold, is there anyone out there who can explain the payouts and if i could redo a letter to the banks lowering the amount to see if they will pay out many thanks
sarah
Because they are claiming from a business account which wasn't covered by the Test Case.
Q. Can I still reclaim charges on my business account?
A. The April ruling is based on the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contract Regulations. As the name suggests, this only applies to consumers; business customers have previously relied on arguing that charges are penalties. When the judge decided in April that banks’ current charges aren’t penalties, this put a stop to all business account claims.0 -

i rang the Halifax to cancel the second cheque they said there be charge of £7 something and they said it cant be done bcoz i dont have any money in the account.
they 've not got the payment yet the payment is due the on the 10th june, can i still ask for reclaim ? if so HOW
HELP REQUIRED... lol
You can phone the bank and ask them politely as its a "first offence" will they consider not charging you. If they refuse then you will have to start a claim in the normal way.0 -
hi,
i'm new to this 'posting threads' malarky so hope i'm going about it the right way!
can anyone help me??? i'm trying to get my claim into the queue for lloyds tsb to reclaim £600 worth of bank charges over the past 6 years. i sent them a letter back in january 08 and have never received an aknowledgement that they'd received my claim, or nothing. i lost my recorded delivery tracking code, so rang their customer services.
there's an article on lloyds tsb's website saying that customers write in with claims they will not currently be processed (as we know) but that they will write to aknowledge them. they never did this for me, have they for anyone else??
i rang the customer services no. they gave for further info - no-one there could tell me whether a note had been made on my account to say whether my claim had been noted. apparently only another dept. can see whether it has or not, but they don't have a phone no. for that dept. helpful. not.
they advised to write another letter, which i have, to the same address as my first letter: "lloyds tsb bank, box 1, BX1 1LT". i have sent this via recorded delivery and it should have easily got there by now, but everytime i try and track it it says to come back later, implying it hasn't been delivered yet.
has anyone else had this problem with lloyds tsb??? i just want an aknowledgement and to know that my claim has been aknowledged and that it is in the queue, whatever the outcome turns out to be!!
can anyone who has got anywhere, or at least got further than me with this advise me as to where they sent letters to etc??
thanks!0 -

We are going through my boyfriends bank statments to add up the charges. we are missing statments so would have to ask for a summary from the bank but think there could be anything up to 30 charges of around £35-£45 each
We want to put in a claim but.....
Its his only account wages go in etc so doesnt want them to suddenly close it.
Also has a 10k loan he is paying off with quite good rates and cannot afford to pay it back if they demand it all in one lump!
What should we do? will they close the account if we try to claim.
Thanks

This is my first post although I have been receiving Martins e-mails for a long time.
This topic may well have been covered but I can't find any reference to it.
I currently have a 'One Account' where my mortgage and banking are all done through the same account. Recently my circumstances changed and led me into some difficulty, made worse by the bank charging me £29 for each transaction rather than phone me to tell me. This has spirralled and caused no end of trouble.
I want to reclaim this money as it seems I am entitled to it, but am worried that the bank may close my account and that with my current circumstances I couldn't get a mortgage to cover what I have at the moment.
Are there any articles or help that relates to this kind of problem?
Thanks in anticipation0
