I am trying to reclaim charges from Studio Cards which is a catalouge company, who have been chargin me £20.00 everytime my payment is late, the reason my payments are late is because I pay everything via my bank online mainly, they have no facility to do this so on occasions my payment is late, £20.00 for what, sending me my next statement (no reminder) so it can't really cost them anything apart from bolder ink maybe, can I do this I have wrote to them and they say I can't as it is stated in the t&c's shall I push on and maybe send off second letter.
hi twins mum send the second letter back i did , and they refunded my admin charges of £186 and £6.66 interest just over a month ago , so go for it good luck jill0 -
Hi Everyone
I wonder if anyone can give me advice with the Halifax.I claimed back my charges but they refused to pay out as the charges were £5030.Ive left the claim as ive no idea what to do.Should i reclaim now that some of the bigg charges when my business failed have dropped off the 6 year allowed? Has anyone done this??
Also ive just phoned them because they have charged me £35.00 for going 5p overdrawn. The guy was really pleasant and agreed this was an excessive charge so has credited the charge back however he did mention the fact i had made a claim.Iasked him why he brought that up but did not respond. At the end of the conversation he did kindly inform me my overdraft facility would not be renewed next year!!!!0 -
hi, can anyone help? i have made claims before so i am no stranger to it. however i heard that the banks cant take charges from benefits. i work part time and currently get working tax credits and the child benefit (the one all parents get). i am still getting charged but it is being taken from my benefits and i am struggling due to this. do i have a case even though the waiver is in place?
there is a law called the Social Security Administration Act 1992, which says that banks must not take charges from benefits as this money is needed for a person to live on. used this law all the time and get refunded fees every time0 -

Hi, sorry if this is posted in wrong place but don't know where else to turn, this week £115 direct debits have gone from account but £185 job seekers went in but alliance and Leicester have bounced two DD at £25 charge each as they say the money needs to be in the account the day before the DD's go out not on the same day but JSA went in on same day as DD were due out
we found the there is a law called the Social Security Administration Act 1992 on the internet and phoned up AL and some stroppy cow called Jane said her and her manager have never heard of it.
if the £25 wasn't charged for the first DD then the 2nd DD would not have bounced but are AL allowed to take bank charges/payment review fees from JSA?
they say they can any advice on what we do now, as we are £50 short__________________0 -
well every time i have rang the bank and said about the Social Security Administration Act 1992 they say ok we will refund the fee of £35 into your account. done this about 8 times now and never had any problems seams a bit strange they never heard of the law as mine had and gave in straight away id ring and try again and try talking to manager or whoever is in charge and give them webb address to read law them selfs0

thanks i thought there was something. but call me stupid but at what point do they call it taking money off your child credits, as i have a job aswell. i get paid per week for child tax credit, monthly child benefit and monthly pay via job. is it only classed as taking money from benefits when you get paid your benefits then the charges come out on the same day, or can it be any amount of time after. if this is the case they shouldnt be charging me at all should they? can it be backdated like a normal claim. sorry if this sounds confusing, i was confused writing it.0 -
Hi I'm new to this but keep up to date with whats going on.
i am currently trying to get back over £1500 worth of charges back from my bank. i couldn't beleive how much they had charged me over the years. Anyway i have had 2 letters back one acknowledging my claim and the other telling me it was hold due to the test case.
sine i put my letter in, in January 2008 i have had further bank charges... can i add these to my claim after the test case has finished and also if the FSA has out a hold on all claims from the bank why haven't they put a hold on the banks charging us! very annoying! not sure if this has already been answered as i haven't got my head round the searching forums thingy.
Any help would be great
Thanks

Hi all im so glad i found this site.. My bank barclays have charged me £150. in the last week for going over my overdraft limit when it was not my fault as another company took out more money than what i owed and to get my remaining money back it is going to take 60 days, can the bank charge that amount they are just putting me further and further in debt i never usually go even into my overdraft but has been a tough couple of months and the bills keep coming out im so angry as i thought that banks would help knowing your a good customer always pay your bills but these charges are ridiculous and i cant see how they can do it, or get my self out of this..
Please any advise is welcome as getting quite frustrated with the whole situation.
Thanks0
