  • They will pass on any refund to debit agency.
  • would this be CCCS or who they sold the debt onto?
  • Hi there ,can anyone help me with this, I'm new to this game and dont know what to do next. I applied to barclays bank in July 2007 for copies of my son's charges, No problem ,Barclays sent them in August and even sent my cheque fo £10 back . I then sent them Martin's 2nd letter in September asking for all charges to be repaid. They acknowledged my letter on the 18th of September and said they believed the charges to be legal ,fair and transparent and would normally resolve my complaint through their internal complaints process, however with the proceedings with OFT going on they have asked the FSA to suspend all claims. They have said that once the proceedings are over they will deal with my complaint as soon as possible. I'm now stuck as what to do next ,do I wait for this to be over and for them to contact me as they've advised, or am I being too trusting and should be doing something in the meantime. They have said that if I choose to issue a claim in court they would apply to the court for an order to stay my action till everything is resolved.I don't want this to slip up at this stage so what do I do ,wait or get stuck in, Help please

If they have acknowledged your claim I would wait .You can't do any thing else at the moment.
  • It would be to who they sold the debt to.
  • thanks for your help, i will start contacting the relevant companies, also should i use my own cheque or postal order for the statement request.
  • You can use your own cheque,This fee will also be debited to the collection agency.
  • Thanks Nickmack for replying to my post. I will carry on pursuing my claim and won't pay them anything. Watch this space ......
  • I just wanted to have my say about charges in general.
I have always run my accounts well, have not had any previous charges and earn a very good salary. I run a credit card and current account like the majority of people in this country. Received my statement in December and made an internet transfer on time. Due to the holiday season this money did not reach my account until (yes you guessed it) a charge had occurred.
While I do not disagree that they should be charges on accounts etc I just cannot believe the antiquated system most banks in this country seem to have. How can an internet transfer take over a week to reach an account? Do the computers go on holiday in this country? Quite frankly I cannot even be bothered to contact the bank to “beg” for the charge to be refunded just to be put through to some unsympathetic customer services staff (and this after having pressed God knows how many buttons to get to talk to the right person)
What I am saying is that even for people who run their accounts well there may be charges; however, before the banks start to help and assist their customers how can they be allowed to charge for their “service” fee. It makes my blood boil. Why can they not offer a service that actually assists their customers instead of processing everything manually which they seem to be doing in most cases? We are after all called customers or am I missing something here?
As stated previously, I have not previously had any charges; however, I have every sympathy for people who through no fault of their own are forced into a downward spiral that they simply cannot get themselves out of due to the banks’ inefficiency. I therefore get really angry when I read comments from holier-than-thou people out there who have never experienced any hardship in their lives. Remember that for most people it may only take a couple of months of unemployment to ruin someone (some for the remainder of their lives) and I would be very careful in criticising people who are trying to question the legality of these incredibly large fees. That is after all what the courts are for and who knows you may in future be in exactly the same position.
To all the people who have received some form of payment, I can only hope you opened a good bottle of champagne and celebrated your refund in style.
  • Hi

I am new to the money saver site, I would like to start claiming back my bank charges from 4 years ago. My account was originally with the Woolwich, which has now been taken over by Barclays.

Can I still make a claim....Sorry if this question may have been asked before, but I did do a small search on the site beforehand.

    Any assistance would be great.

    Thanks
  • Hi I wondered if anyone could help - I want to claim back bank charges and credit card charges - both of which are with nationwide. When requesting my last 6 years of charges can I do both at the same time as they are both with nationwide (and only pay one £10) . I realise that bank charges reclaim is on hold but can i still get these charges now so I can start the process and ensure that the last 6 years are taken into account. Thanks in advance for any advice. Richard
