Funny that, I just noticed that a charge in my BOS account was £15 instead of the usual £39. I mentioned this to my girlfriend who was just charged £35 instead of the £39 with the same bank, but different account. What's going on?
Wheeeeeee...
• True enough, BOS's site says:
A fee of £35 will be charged for returned unpaid items, such as cheques, standing orders and Direct Debits.
Wheeeeeee...
• Actually, their site has said that since at least June, so why were charges £39???

*writes another letter...
Wheeeeeee...
• Can anyone tell me whether the kain feeling is that people will be able to reclaim bank charges once the test case goes through and also when this will be?

Also can i reclaim twice on the same bank account?

Please let me know....

Thankyou and have a lovely weekend :o)
• Hi I have a dilemma and hope someone can reply to this. I used to bank with the Halifax and once upon a time they gave a lot of my money to my gas and electric company without my permission which left me heavily overdrawn I had also sent cheques to various people and got charged for the cheques been cashed. I didn't even receive a letter from my gas/elec asking for this money. This was in 2003 and I did pay my overdraft off on a regular basis but then I heard about the reclaiming early last year so .....

I have written quite a few letters to the Halifax every time they state I owe them money. I have stated that as far as I'm concerned I don't owe them a penny as they are at fault not me. Every letter seems to be ignored and they keep sending me reminder letters. Of course this leaves me angry and frustrated every time. My question is should I see it through to Court or should I pay up. The amount isn't much but on principal I don't think I should pay them any more than I already have.
• Hi,

I have a claim in with the Natwest but have been told last October that it is on hold till the test case is finished. Can anyone tell me when this is likely to be and should I write again to ask where my case is at present.

Thanks for any help

Case starts in 9 days, and is expected to last a couple of weeks.

But there could be an appeal.

No need to write to the bank, as they have put your case on hold, as stated, and therefore nothing as been done with your case since you last wrote.
• Hi all, i'm needing some help with my claim. I was given the £750 goodwill gesture by Lloyds prior to the OFT Test Case announcement, but as i was claiming on 2 current accounts they paid £375 into each account.
This is well under the £2400 i'm reclaiming and after the amounts being paid in (without no prior notification i might add) i received a letter from Lloyds saying they'll have no further contact with me on the matter.

Having read the updates on reclaiming on here, i'm aware i can still proceed with my claim, explaining that i accept the £750 as part settlement, and still intend to claim the full amount.

I've looked all over the forums and i cant find that sample letter anywhere. If i remember rightly there was a post with several possible responses you could make to your bank, the one i want is to accept without prejudice £750 as part payment only, and to deduct that sum from the total amount, and still issue my refund for the remainder.

Thankyou in advance for any help.

 cyberman, I have just played these and I am absolutely appalled. I started my claim back in Jan 07, and have been through all processes imaginable to get to the stage where I appealed against the stay on my case which was about to be heard on 14 August, went to court for an oral hearing of the uplift of stay, failed to get that, have written to Rhodri Morgan, MPs MEPs M.O.R, etc. I am livid that the banks are still allowed to apply penalty charges, and this is likely to go on for years, As you say if this were private companies they would be arrested for robbery and fraud!!! The only thing i have to admit to is that I did get all my statements from Barclays. and even a second set when I wrote asking for a breakdown of how they arrived at this ridulous penalty charge. dumb or what:eek:
