  • My boyfriend is being charged £75 by Abbey for entering in to an 'overdraft' even though he never set one up, they took it upon themselves to do it. Can he reclaim for the charge?

Three months ago I wrote off to the Nationwide Building Society requesting a list of their charges covering the last six tears. One month ago I received a letter containg an explanation of their charges and informing me that my name and details had been noted. I also received a list with ONE years charges, which ammounted to £90.00 so I wrote back to them asking them to carefully read my original leter requesting a list covering the past six years. This morning I received anoher letter with the same bumf re bank charges but also a list with no charges or dates or any relevant information at all. I've contacted them by telephone and advised them that they were now in breach of the 40 day ruling. Does anyone know what I should do now? should I contact the Ombudsman or what. Also if the claims have been suspended, why aren't the "charges" one rule for some, another for the rest of us!

Its the ICO you need to contact regarding getting your information/statements, have a read of this thread.

Just proivde name and address and date of birth, and ask them to provide your account numbers.

Also, if you request your credit file from call credit for £2, they include some account numbers on the file, which equifax and experian do not.
  • natwest charged me £38 X 3 for an unpaid cheque. :(

Arguably, the first charge is for my fault. i wrote a cheque and didnt have that amount in my account. (for very good reason--->my pay was late). that leaves a -£9.87 in my account.

my employer subsequently paid the money into my account, and i have £777.32 in my account. The employer then reverse the payment, because he apparently realised that my writing is illegible and my '8' may be a '6'.

Problem: natwest took the -£9.87 from this amount, and when the pay was reversed, they hit me with another £38 charge, as there wasnt enough money in my account to 'fully refund' my employer. (if you know what i mean).

as i was in the bank trying to sort this out, a third £38 charge was put on my account for a DD that should have gone thru on that morning. :(

I have reclaimed a £38 charge from natwest before (their fault, for delaying the transfer between one accoutn to another). The lady said i am not entitle to anymore 'compensation'. compensation??? .....

can i call them instead of writing to them?

Hi there I was in my bank yesterday sorting out some business, and we were chatting about bank charges etc, and the advisor informed me that because of the and I quote "MARTIN LEWIS THING" that in his opinion no one would be able to claim back any bank charges for at least 5 years in his own words he said you would have more chance of flying to the moon than getting any back.. Is he just guessing or could there be something in this.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.
