  • Hello to All

Unfortunatly I was a bit slow to cotton on to the bank charge reclaim thingy.

I have recieved a list of my charges from halifax ( £900 ) but as soon as I had recieved it the test case thing went ahead.

Is it still worth me asking for the charges back now or to wait till the test case reaches a verdict. Will waiting have any effect on my chances.

    thanks in advance

  • I have claimed bank charges on a Lloyds TSB account in May and now that the courts are reviewing the charges my case has been delayed. However I am now in a position where i can pay off the overdraft I have on this account and would like to close it completely.

My question is, if i close this account in the middle of my claim would I still be entitled to any money due on the account if the courts ruled in my favour?

    Can anyone help?

Open or closed, you are still entitled to all money claimed.
  • Hi All

I'm new to the site and have requested my statements from Natwest. I paid the fee to get them and set on my merry way of adding up the charges however when I looked they had changed all my charges from 2001 to 2004 from £49.50 and above to a new charge of £12.

Has this happended to any one else and what did you do as Natwest are saying that these are the only records that they have.

  • Did you get actual statements or a list of your charges? If it was a list of your charges then you can go back to them and ask for the actual statements so you can get an accurate picture of your account. Alternately it could be that the £12 monthly charge is for having a Gold Account which you can't reclaim.
  • They were copy statements and I never had a gold account as I didn't see the point of paying for extra services that I never used. I specifically recall one date as I paid cheques in to my account the day before i went on holiday knowing I was paid the following day but the bank cleared them the same day thus taking me over drawn. The bank then charged me over £50 which made me close the account down. I looked at the statements they had sent me and they said the charge was £12 and when I looked at other charges they had also been changed to £12.
  • I am trying to find out if the Halifax are correct in saying they will only refund credit card charges to the credit card not to a current account. Can you help as I cant seem to find this info anywhere?.

  • can i reclaim charges for using my overdraft?

i have a 2k overdraft but dont use it all, sometimes im a few quid over drawn but never gone over the agreed overdraft.
  • I started to reclaim my charges from Natwest back in July only to be sent a letter saying all claims were suspended because of the court case?
I didn't start court proceedings because these too were suspended.
The 6 year limitation has now passed. Do I still get my claim heard from the date I sent the letter to the bank?
Should I start court proceedings even though they are not being heard?
I really don't want the bank to get away with it as it is quite a lot of money, and nearly bankrupted us.
    What should I do?
