Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges article discussion Part II

I have received an offer for the full amount from Alliance & Leicester which I have accepted but in their acceptance letter there is a paragraph that says "We would like to re-assure you that if you do accept our offer of settlement we will continue to operate your account. We would only do so on the basis that you accept the Terms and Conditions of your account previously notified to you and that charges will be applied in accordance with our current charging policy."
Does anyone out there know whether this means that I cannot do the same thing again if I ever need to or is this just standard waffle?0 -
Just like to say thanks for the site and all the information and queries on it. I went through everything Martin said letter by letter word for word. Was a bit worried going to the court stage but when I got to that stage there was a suggestion about going to the Financial Ombudsman. I would recommend this as I got frequent letters from them updating me and have just had a letter to say Abbey will offer me full amount. £8,437. This took about a month. I am so happy. It has cost me a few stamps. Once again I would like to thank everyone on the site for the information given and would recommend this site to anyone.
THANK YOU0 -

Like Katiespringer, I'm due in Court next Friday 3rd August. In light of the new announcement, I don't know whether we should still turn up..?
I happen to know that Lloyds TSB is asking the courts to suspend all of their cases until the test case is complete, which could be 1 year! I can only assume that the other banks involved (such as HSBC who I am claiming from) are taking a similar stance...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I have just called the Halifax who told me it will take 12 - 18 months to get some sort of answer whether you can reclaim them or not0

 After a long wait on the Abbey paying up I was pig sick to hear of todays ruling by the FSA and OFT as my complaint was 3 working days away from the 8 week FSA ruling, when i phoned the FSA and the Abbey was told all excisting claims/complaints were now being put on hold until the test case had been heard in the High Court see www.fsa.gov.uk. However checked my online abbey account and was shocked to see they had credited my account this morning with £790. Although my original claim was for £2120 i am now unsure how next to proceed, do i accept full and final settlement for this amount or without prejiduce? If i do accept without predjuce will my claim for the full amount be put on hold due to the new wiaver in place? Please help.0

Can someone advise me please. Natwest have written back to me and said they will take 6-7 weeks to process my bank charges claim.. What should i do? Is this the norm for banks to look over the claim for a period of 6-7 weeks? Thanks0
