HP WiFi printers work very simply with iPads, and should be similar with Android. Any of the HP ePrint series also allow you to assign an Email address to the printer, which relatives can send documents, images or messages to, they appear on the printer.0

It might be me missing something not you. I had a chat with the tech guy at work as well as in cpw as well as reading thru this forum and plumped for the Ainol 10" that I had the links for. Not sure i knew there was a version II.NiftyDigits wrote: »But why choose that one over the eBuyer model anyway? Is their a reason why the Ainol is £20 more?
Any reason why the Mark I Ainol over the Mark II?
Am I missing something?0 -

The Sumvision is a good buy but with a sizably smaller battery and chunkier case, the Ainol is very nicely made, and also a while back it was on sale cheaper, price has crept up a bit with demand recently.
The Ainol MK2 is near identical to the MK1 but has quad core instead of dual core and is priced quite a bit over the op's budget. MK2 also loses Bluetooth function, I feel Bluetooth an important backup for op's Gran if she doesn't get on with a touch keyboard the option is there to add a Bluetooth proper keyboard later.
For the op's Gran I don't think quad core is necessary, I doubt she is a 'power user' and even a single core A13 would probably do enough, the increase in power consumption/shorter usage time of a quad over a dual seemed unnecessary in this case.
The MK1 isn't really being 'sold' at £299, thats just the seller using the old Ebay 'listing holding trick' - when out of stock put the price too high to get any orders, then put the price down to normal when stock comes in, saves paying for a new listing.0 -

That makes some sense.
Though there isn't really a price differential between the MK I & II. So that looks more like a choice between CPU and Bluetooth. 0 -
It's helpful having people like you & sillygoose etc as its hard for me to do the detail if its not an area of expertise.
Sg has the bias as he calls it spot on. It's for Grandma & her needs are specific.
Now I'm having a problem getting nephew to give me type of spec he needs for a laptop for uni in sept.
can you help me with identifying that spec. He plays football manager (takes a lot of space?). will use it for watching sky sports & sky go, Facebook, twitter, Skype, steam? What on earth is steam? Spotify, iTunes, iPhone backing up etc, live tv, buying and playing and maybe down loading music, playing DVDs of TV shows maybe, Email, office, powerpoint, publisher etc for uni work and wifi printing.
I need to buy him a printer & a laptop.
Can't see when he can do any uni work with football manager, Facebook. twitter lol.
Haven't got a budget for it as I'd like to know what do we need and how much does that cost and then see where the compromise has to be if I can't afford it. I've seen stuff at £750 which seems to have what we need. That's a lot of money! I've got a few months yet and have at times dipped in and out of similar threads. Will start a new thread if needed.0 -

This ACER Aspire V3-571G for £380 is the kind of thing that I imagine that he would like.
Pair it with a £30 three year extended warranty and you're off.0 -

Thats a pretty good opener... great RAM and not left wanting for anything hardware wise but I am not a fan of the i3-3110 CPU, I feel it would be too weedy for the multi use, I would up the budget enough for an i7 based device, it benchmarks 3x faster (or a good AMD version)0 -

Has a quite respectable CPU Benchmark of 3036. Coupled with dedicated graphics, I'm sure it will do ok. Why spend more?
I can do all but gaming and I'm still using a Celeron Dual Core with a benchmark of 1000.
Of course an i7 will be better, that goes without saying. But I doubt the nephew will be crying in his sleep with the performance of the ACER.
Though it's a shame that the OEMs often bundle their consumer machines with some much pointless software. You have to sweep it away to get the best from the machines.0
