I've been looking for a few days since the wife saw a device from a company called Apple and declared that she wanted one. At that price she can dream on.

So I ordered this yesterday http://www.ebuyer.com/450846-zoostorm-playtab-pc-3305-1030, a quarter of the price Apple ask. It might not be quite as good (won't arrive for a few days) but at least it's affordable £120 including VAT (free delivery)

BUT today they're showing it at £116.65 PLUS VAT That might indicate high demand which might be interpreted as an endorsement. It may be that it's worth watching to see if the price falls back once we've all taken delivery if we start to feed back disappointment...

Please let us know how it goes. I'm still contemplating

One thing I like on the ipad (& iPhone) is that you can take a snapshot of your screen by pressing the home and on button at the same time. It then saves the snapshot in your photos so that you can text it to someone. Does the Ainio novel 10 hero do this?
I've found the Ainol Hero for £121.35 on the internet search on a site called sale android tablet. That's a good price so I might buy it today at that price.

Not sure how I feel buying from a Chinese website though. Should I be cautious?

Yes you can take a screen shot in any android device the same since android 4+ its usually the volume down and power button at the same time. Thats a function of android rather than any particular tablet make or model.

The website you mention is Hong Kong, looks legitimate and if you pay by Paypal you have some safeguards...

But you run the risk of being hit with a customs charge on top, its pretty random... the tax on this would be £24.27 and the post office would charge you £8.95 to collect it before releasing the item. Other couriers more maybe.

So it could cost £121.35 or £154.57 or more if your unluckily 'caught' and if you have a problem it will cost a fair bit to ship it back to Hong Kong (that cost will not be covered by any warranty and will take a long time)

From mad4pads its £147.99 (ebay) from a UK company with no risk of tax and UK support and warranty. Its £149.99 on their website but a bit cheaper on their ebay listing for some reason.

I have bought plenty of stuff from Hong Kong and China and been pretty lucky with customs but got caught out recently importing some collectible toys and the duties made it more expensive than Amazon!

    Its up to you.

Really informative. Thanks a lot. I'm usually a bit cautious so think I'll stick with the eBay link you gave. Thnx.

I can only say what I would do, I hope it works out for you, people buying the same tablet on the sellers feedback all seem happy enough. I suspect when this stock is gone the price will go up higher as looking back its already risen as they did sell it at £139 - supply and demand I suppose and what ever the exchange rates are when they get their supplies in.

Well I got waylaid on Sunday by the problem with the Dell desktop then got tired and then back to work and then never got round to buying the Ainol. Bad move as its now gone up from £149.99 to £299.99
So sorry to waste everyone's time as I've got to start again now. Good job she's not 70 for a couple of months.
So any more suggestions welcome. TIA.

    Which Ainol is £300??
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AINOL-NOVO10-HERO-MULTI-touch-Bluetooth/dp/B00A2P3ECE
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/II-Screen-1-5GHz-Android-Aluminum/dp/B00AXH97J0

I'm sure that you can find them for less.

Looks similar to what eBuyer is selling for less anyway: http://www.ebuyer.com/432600-sumvision-cyclone-voyager-tablet-pc-cycvoy101bt

You can read more about Ainol here

Thnx for the Amazon links. Also thanks for helping me again moving on from the desktop issue to a tablet now lol!
I looked at the Amazon links but didn't feel comfortable as they are Chinese companies. But I've just managed to buy one from the mad4pads link that sillygoose posted at £149.99. It's now out of stock on there since I've completed my purchase. It's was where I was going to buy it from originally but on their mad4pads web page it was £149.99 but in their ebay shop it has now gone up to £299.99. I've had confirmation of the order at £149.99 so am pleased as its for her 70th birthday. She going to be so pleased.

But why choose that one over the eBuyer model anyway? Is their a reason why the Ainol is £20 more?
Any reason why the Mark I Ainol over the Mark II?

    Am I missing something?
