I have a three bedroom terraced house with garden that I rent for £600 a month. I live in East Kent, in a beautiful little town.

My last house was an end of terrace three bed with garden that was £875 a month.

The money we are saving covers the extra cost of commuting to London.

We rent a 2 bed (1 single) semi detached house in Oxford. It's University graduate family housing and costs £725 pm and we don't have to pay council tax even with my partner working. The complex is gated and has excessive amounts of parking and communal gardens. This is extremely cheap for the city (Oxford), we would expect to pay upwards of £850+ct for a one bed flat with no garden or parking if we were to rent privately in the city.

Saying that, the rent has gone up £100 p/m since we moved in less than 2 years ago, and would be going up to £750 if we were staying after August. As it is we're looking to move to Leamington spa where we should be able to get a decent 1/2 bed flat with parking for £650.

Wow, I am so lucky with mine compared to most then!

I live in Llanelli (W Wales) and pay £400 pcm for a 2 bed (large double/single) mid terrace (4 house terrace), newish build, front and back gardens, patio, driveway for 3 cars (or in my case minibus and car) which is just up from the houses. Lovely quiet estate, not posh but not rough.

2nd year in house, no increase in rent, and my lovely landlords bought and put up a shed for me this weekend :).

I love my little house, perfect for one or two people, but it would be a bit small if i ever had kids.

I'm also in Oxford - that's super cheap :) We didn't qualify for grad housing as OH had had accomodation via the list at some point before so we couldn't apply (I think I know the complex you are referring to, we were sent to look at a house there before they told us I could only apply on my own - it's really nice :) ). Our last rental property in the city (two years ago) was a pokey a one-bed crash pad near Thornhill (no garden, alloacted parking, not a great area - vehicle stolen from allocated parking sort of area :() at £750 pcm plus council tax. Before that we'd rented in Wheatley because it was slightly cheaper, but really awkward for work.

Our mortgage on the 3-bed semi we are in now is less than our rent was. It is bit better in terms of area and quite quiet where we are with far better bus links. Rents are +1300 pcm for a house this size in this area. Crazy.

I've rented all over the place and it varies tremendously.
Torquay 2 bed flat (small) with sea view and parking space £650.
Stratford East London 2 bed terrace, no parking, courtyard. £1100
Newport Wales 3 bed detached parking for three cars and small patio/decking area a bargain at £525!
  • The last place we rented was 3 bedroom mid terrace in Newport, South Wales - two doubles, one single, on-street parking, garden - £525

Manchester, bedroom in an HMO, garden, off road parking, fantastic transport links, three bathrooms, £320pcm.

Will soon be moving to a 3 bed terrace, also in the same area of south Manchester, but with no garden, which will be £650pcm for the whole property.
