I rent out an unfurnished 3 bedroom semi with garden just outside Glasgow, in a nice wee cul-de-sac or £510 PCM .Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0

What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Quite a few people have suggested I charge my tenants more, but right now I'm happy with what I'm getting, so far I've had no issues with my tenants ( touch wood) so I'm happy to leave things as they are - I think £510 PCM is plenty.Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .0

That's a lovely thing to hear. It's hard not to get the impression that landlords are raising prices as much as possible at the moment, and people are struggling.
We've chosen a home where we feel comfortable and safe over one where we might have spare money to save for a deposit for a house, but it's a shame it has to be that way.0 -
My OH and I in Staffordshire and moving to a new house next week.
Current house:
2 bedroom terrace, 2 relatively small reception rooms, narrow kitchen, bathroom on ground floor, small yard to the rear. Rent = £325 a month (would be more if the landlord invested some money in doing it up more).
New house:
3 bedroom terrace, 2 good size reception rooms, bigger kitchen, downstairs bathroom and upstairs shower room, medium-sized garden. Property decorated to a high standard and in a 'posh' area apparently, although wasn't aware of that when we went to see it lol. Rent = £500 a month.
Would love to be able to buy, if nothing else so we can put our own stamp on a property so will start to make a hole in the credit card debt once my uni course finishes in June and then onto saving for a deposit.0 -
Just outside Edinburgh, 575pcm for 2 bed flat. Was paying 1400 a month in London prior to that.0

Little studio flat in a quiet corner of Bristol, within walking distance of the city centre - £400.0

My rent is £430 inclusive for a bedroom in a 3 bed flatshare with my best mate and another guy. Big room, big kitchen/dining area but no garden which sucks. It's in Purley, Surrey.
We have a good thing as most places around here are well over £650 for the same not including bills. Private let0 -
Wow, thanks everyone for your replies, really interesting.
I guess location is everything! Although it shocks me that my current property and my future one are the same rental price, either we got unlucky with this one or super lucky with the next one.
Bit of further info, both in Southsea (nicer part of Portsmouth),
First is one bed with a dressing room... Dressing room isn't attached to bedroom and is the size of a small bathroom, no room for furniture on bedroom. We love the kitchen in style but It's not been well put together, the bathroom is very dated and bath panel/ sink are cracked.Allocated parking and close to sea.
Second is one bed with a massive lounge/ diner with a beautiful decked garden. Separate kitchen (which we don't currently have!) And a little utility room as well as a lovely shower room and a porch to store OH's bike which he needs to get to the train to work... This was a major sticking point at current flat as it has to be kept in the dressing room (It's expensive and he doesn't
trust it outside!) Again, allocated parking and close to sea.0 -
