By the way, I still have this horrid rash, it's so irritating and I'm fighting the urge to scratch :o Really hope that it goes away soon.

Tay, it sounds as if a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders now that you have told your mum. The tone of your posts has you coming across as a young woman who has everything to look forward to in life, rather than someone down trodden and scared of her own shadow.

The difference in you in such a very short period of time is immense. I hope you enjoy spending some time with your mum. She sounds really lovely. Your sister will be just as supportive I am sure.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Couldn't agree more. A true butterfly story - and I think I speak collectively for your many supporters on here by saying that although I don't know you, I am immensely proud of how you have managed the whole episode. It has been handled with courage, dignity and grace - you are an inspiration. I hope that some of the ladies reading this who are in an unpleasant situation will take heart from the knowledge that unhappy marriages don't have to be endured. Well done you!

    :T Well said!

So pleased you've finally been able to tell to your mum, Tayforth, and had such a supportive reaction from her. You must feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from your shoulders, .
Now you can relax and enjoy the next few days.

It might be that he can't believe what you've done and is expecting you to go running back to him. When you don't, he may start contacting you.

    Yes, then expect the pleading.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I can't do individual replies as I'm on my phone, but I've read them all.

You were right. Mum was amazing. As soon as we got to the house, I said, "I have some good news for you - 'OH' and I have split up." And she said that she was relieved!!! She didn't really feel comfortable around him, and didn't like the way that he spoke to me. So his mask must have slipped a few times.

Anyway, I said that I was relieved too, and much happier without him, and then we had a big hug. She suggested that we go for some pub grub to celebrate! So off we went.

I told her the whole story of the last few weeks - the holiday, the Samaritans, telling my aunt, trying to decide what to do about the wedding, telling my ex that it was over, the car debacle, everything. I said that I had decided to keep it quiet so as not to overshadow the wedding, and I was glad that I did.

She did ask why I hadn't told her before . I explained about the wedding, and said that she and my sister and BIL deserved a lovely day with no worries or anything taking the shine off it. And that I had had a far better time without him, that my enjoyment was genuine.

She said that I could have told her and she would have kept it from my sister. But I said no, that it was hard enough for me to lie to everyone, I wouldn't have asked her to do the same. She hates lying even more than I do and I wouldn't have put her in that position. And she said that she understood.

We came home and chatted some more, and she seemed content that I'm happy with my decision. We both went off to bed in a good mood.

I'm going to stay here until just before my sis and BIL get back from honeymoon (next week). Then I'll go back to my house for a couple of days, just to give them a chance to get settled in. Then I'll come home next weekend and tell them the truth.

We're going to tell a few trusted friends and neighbours in the meantime but we'll ask them not to broadcast it as Sis is not to know until she gets home. After that, I want the world to know! I'll take out an ad in the newspapers :D

Oh Tay xx. You and your mum xx Mums are wise. Have lots of hugs with her, I feel like crying I feel so happy for you.
