Nobody has posted any vile comments, they have simply made remarks that haven't been what you wanted to hear.

I really think a lot of people need to step back and at least try and imagine what it must be like to have a really severely disabled child and how that might impact on one's life.

A little bit of empathy never goes a miss IMO.

+ being made redundant at 43, after 23yrs (never claimed a penny until then), and having to give up a house because it's not suitable for the disabled daughter (needing a fully adapted home), ending up owning a lot of money because they could not sell it. Then later on 'punished' because the house they had to move to has too many rooms (they were happy to wait for a 2-bed but needed a fully adapted home asap).

No one has showed lack of empathy to the fact that life must be hard looking after a severely disabled child, but this has nothing to do with expecting special treatment despite a large income.

Does this mean that we should expect people who work and earn the same equivalent to have special treatment for any stressful circumstances they might be facing in their lives? Most people will experience stressful and difficult times unfortunately. If you were to excuse everything because of it, there would be no more rules left to follow.

We are assuming that OP faces stress in their lives due to having a severely disabled child (but even that could be an assumption as it might not always be the case) but at least they are receiving a large income to make it easier. Isn't that in itself something to be grateful for?

But nobody was unpleasant or said anything about the disabled daughter. Commenting on financial information (which has already been made public) and the need for budgeting is entirely appropriate in the circumstances, whatever one's personal feelings.

People who rely on benefits will always defend their right to them, no one thinks "oh I didn't really need/want that anyway" We could debate the rights of beneifits claimants/system forever. I doubt whether all the defenders of the benefit system are the income tax paying Joe Public's of the country who don't actually get any of the "pot". I have claimed benefits around 30 years ago and do not grudge anyone a hand up. I dont however want to carry them.

Agree with ekkygirl, dunroamin and fbaby, so won't repeat what they have said.
It's actually quite sickening the way you have twisted that around. You should be ashamed of yourself. It was a simple budgeting issue, which you conceded in getting wrong after your initial posts. How dare you tell a group of people you think they should collectively 'take a step back'! A self appointed, self righteous, condescending and completely misguided post, from someone who appears to enjoy the attention from 'flaming', judging from previous responses. It's v. difficult responding to someone whose judgement is so completely and utterly clouded, so shall stop now!

I'm not surprised, this forum is full of anti-welfare bigots who jump on every thread to express their disdain towards benefit claimants in general. There are plenty of better and less judgemental forums on the web, I certainly would not recommend this forum to people requiring help or advice on the benefits system.

Another Labour voter driven away from the forum when they got no sympathy but lots of austerity advice.

A massive assumption there, but not surprising considering your overall attitude on this forum.
