yes that is absolutely correct and absolutely my point - to a non-reciepient of high component DLA - they could have to pay the full commercial price (very likely to be more than £300 per month) on a small leased car. This would have to come from their previous taxed monthly income - it seems we are all in agreement.

The use of this car would be equivalent to a non-recipient of High component DLA at least an additional £6000 on annual salary. Again I have no problem with this but an understanding and clarity on equivalence helps understanding and people's engagement in the system.

They don't go to that board, look at viewing figures, they are more likely to come here.

On here there are cases like nannytone - whose benefit entitlement is a lot lower than others, I think it's good to discuss entitlements and differences. They are very differing depending on circumstances. In this case it is a severely disabled child who is involved, a singleton last week with £249 plus living costs, etc.

Most if not all of the discussions as you call them are likely to put most genuine newbies off asking a benefits question IMO.

The viewing figures are not high IMO from lurkers they are high because of the hard core long term posters who post on this board and they read the posts. You notice the more controversial a thread is, the more viewings it gets :D

but you are comparing apples with pears.

someone receiving HRM is deemed to have such problems with mobility, that a car ( or the cash equivalent for taxi's etc) is necessary to put them on an equal footing with non disabled people.

for example .. i cant use a train or bus by myself, so i have to pay 2 fares for someone to accompany me .
or pay someone elses petrol costs to get where i need to go as i cant do it alone.
non disabled people dont have that cost

It is not the reason for the additional finance which I am seeking to clarify in my own head rather equivalences in financial terms. The why and wherefore are for politicans - I was just interested in what in the comparative financial data. As I have said repeatedly, I have no issue with the OP having an equivalent of £57000 salary per year if this was they are entitled to for whatever reason. It is has certainly been a very enlightening thread for me.

i would assume that the financial cost of a mobility car is equivalent to HRM as that is the alternative

What has it got to do with entitlement though or help in getting such entitlement? ...nowt.

If you look at the thread on ADHD someone has just made a comment that I would have thought would put any parent asking for help getting DLA on here. I'm going to ignore it because it's so nasty IMO it's not worth replying to. (not the one I did reply to, the very sarcastic one by Nadia666 when it's clear a lot of parents are very upset. To me that's just plain nastiness.

As I said the OP here was not a benefits query, it was a budgeting issue.

Actually it was a benefit (bedroom tax issue) which you actually answered last week for them. They have overnight carers, if they had chosen to use your post, it would probably have had more merit that route than DHP, with higher income.
