My comments were about this particular situation due to information provided. I can't comment on individual circumstances that I have no information about.

You dragged up another post from bankruptcy.

How much a week do you think it costs to keep a severely disabled child in care?

    Why is this bad press?

A family are getting their entitlements, they clearly have a lot of debts which have probably been bought about by the father being unable to work, it's quite difficult when you care 24/7.

Now I've not said they should get the DHP, I merely answered the question, why cannot people actually do that? I don't believe half of you would have the guts to do it in person either, you are hiding behind a computer screen, venting about benefits which you personally think are too high.

Whether I think benefits are too high or not is irrelevant when answering benefit queries.

The bottom line is this is not a forum to judge people whether you like it or not it is about benefits entitlement.

They asked a question which was answered about DHP. They did not ask for a judgement on whether they could afford it or not. When will people actually grasp the rules of the forum?

What are you on about bloolagoon and DLA? I don't make the benefit rules DLA is discounted for calculation of benefits entitlement it is non means tested. A court of law has also upheld that DLA is not for the purpose of housing costs.

It is purely common sense to point out the blindingly obvious, if that's defined as judgement!

Well quite frankly I've just amended that post, because I can't see that it was a benefit query in the first place, it is a budgeting query, so it's on the wrong forum. :D

In fairness I do concede they did ask how they could afford it...which is not a benefits question is it?

But it is ok to flame those who come and say that they are losing CB because of their income. The few who have dared complaining got shot here, how dare them complaining when their income is above £50K. The fact that they might have significant outgoings, especially in childcare made no difference.

Here we have someone earning the equivalent of what would mean a cut in CB, with no significant required outgoings so that the £50K can be earnt but how dare anyone expressing shock that they could come here and complain that they will lose £68...through choice...because at least they do have the choice to move and not lose that amount.

As a previous single parent of children under the age of 5, who worked full-time in a demanding and stressful job, juggling both a career and parenthood, yet who was expected to pay high tax and high childcare costs, I find the OP's post insulting.

This post reflects in no way how I feel about other disabled people getting much less in benefits or with higher required outgoings just this particular one.

Lease, insurance, tax and some other costs, hence why OP had no related car costs and made that point as it is normally the first thing people ask when they see blank car sections on a SOA.

The poster before highlighted the 'rest of the story' - so I commented based on the 'full' information which seemed a more sensible approach. For the last time, I said the OP could comfortably afford the increase in rent, there was no absolutely no need to complain about it, given their income! For someone who complains about judging, you make a lot of your own judgements about others!

Can I assume then that the lease of the car, MOT and insurance, road tax etc are additional to the £3058? Okay then so a small 4 door car on lease - maybe £250 a month plus an additional say £50 to cover insurance and service, road tax so an additional £300 monthly

This takes is to an annual salary equivalent of £57000 to afford these things without state intervention. I am just interested in being clear on what people are talking about - if there is nothing to hide then there should be no issue with any questions. If this is what the OP is entitled too then I have no problem with that but I do have a problem with people being defensive, muddying the water with irrelevant emotional issues when I am only asking a simple question to clarify equivalencies so that we are all working off the same financial data.

That was in the discussion area if I remember rightly Fbabe or before I realised that general discussion/debate on benefits should not be here.

It is also different to discuss a general concept than to single out the OP IMO.

I don't flame, it would be easy to do so, but I actually avoid answering a lot of the threads for that reason believe it or not.

Yes I do about the appalling way this forum is run.
