I'm glad there are so many winners, it just makes my blood boil that mine and RufLonger's cases were decided against us.
You'll know that I've been on at Ofcom about this - I received a letter from them today (weird that I didn't get the usual emailed response, felt very officious). Their comment on this point:
"The fact that CISAS has found the clause to be ambiguous does not mean it is necessarily unfair under the UTCCRs" - even though CISAS relied on the same legislation in reaching their decision, and despite the fact that the majority of CISAS adjudicators are legally qualified. For some strange reason, I assumed that Ofcom followed the same law as the rest of us - will have to clarify what law they do actually consider in reaching an opinion.
Stoney and Rufonger - I'll email a scanned copy of Ofcom's letter tomorrow, in case it helps with SCC.0 -
Easy to say here, you are happy and enjoying a nice weekend compliments of EE haha :rotfl:

Ofcom actually put that in a letter? I thought one of the main points re UTCCR's was that it had to be unambiguous. I wish I knew that was Ofcoms thinking before I went to see my MP. Still it shows just how hard they are "considering" clause V58 & V59 more like considering how to wriggle out of taking any action over this.
I think I need to email them again to keep the pressure on them.0 -
SIM (Subsidy) Unlock Code
Has anybody successfully received their SIM (Subsidy) Unlock Codes from T-Mobile? and how long did they take?
I've just requested mine and have been told it will take 20 days.
Not that the time is a problem, I wasn't planning on accepting the CISAS decision until my phones are unlocked, so I'll just have to put up with free network access until then
Phone Warranty
I wasn't sure how phone warranty would work once I'd unlocked the phones and gone "SIM-free"
Checking on the Samsung website (I have 2 SIII's) it appears they provide 24 months warranty on all phones and you can deal directly with them via their Repair Service Centre.
Has anyone got experience of this? does it work OK?
PAC Codes
Has anyone "parked" their numbers with another Network while deciding what to do long-term?
I may end up going back to T-Mobile on a SIM only deal (better the devil you know). But I don't believe T-Mobile can Import a T-Mobile generated PAC Code. Either way it will be cleaner to go to another Network, perhaps temporarily.
Was thinking of going to 3 on the PAYG 321 deal, as the SIM is free. Has anyone done anything similar? I assume I'll need to top up before I can get the PAC Codes from 3 to take the numbers back to T-Mobile, should I choose to.
Is there a better Network to use temporarily?
Virgin Mobile also offer free PAYG SIM. Since they use the T-Mobile Network, does anyone know if a Virgin Mobile SIM will work in a T-Mobile (Subsidy) locked phone?0 -
(1) an iPhone doesn't use an unlock code in the conventional sense. Apple's servers are old the phone should be SIM free and an iTunes sync toggles this.
(2) Phone warranties are unaffected by sim lock changes, but firmware updates (should they go wrong) may not.
(3) No, Virgin has its own SIM ID so it doesn't matter that they use the same network. I used GiffGaff to park, then ended up staying with them!0 -

While I would agree on GiffGaff being a good alternative place to park a sim (I've ended up staying so far and using a £10 goody bag), but would disagree on point 3, I have used a Virgin sim in a number of T-Mobile locked phones.
I cannot remember one that didn't work, including a brand new iPhone 5.====0 -

Any chance you can post the adjudicators reasoning on the forum (sorry if I missed it) or PM them to me?
