I've been selling on ebay for about 3 years , in the first couple of years I never had one non-payer , then in this last year they've begun and increased as time goes on .

As a seller it's really tricky , if we raise a NPB they can trash our stars . My guess is sellers are getting burned like this and from then on don't risk raising a NPB and the problem gets worse 'cos ebay won't help .

Was the system always like this ? Didn't we use to have the option to give a buyer negative feedback ?

NPB seem to come along all at once for me and then I won't have any at all for a while.

Actually, this is the first time that a NPB has left me malicious stars. Normally, if I have to open a case they never pay anyway.

It won't stop me from opening a case in the future though. But, for the next few weeks I might wait longer than 4 days before opening one. Only to give my stars a chance to recover a bit, just in case.

I just hope that sales pick up a bit. As at the moment they are slower than usual. Which doesn't help matters either.

I have phoned Ebay on 0800 358 6551. Dont think it is Dublin as they all sound American but I`ve managed to speak to someone to ask how a bidder with no feedback managed to bid on my item. if you`re wondering why I am so mean about it it`s because I was advised to have very stringent safeguards on my account to stop people with strikes etc biddingon my items. Anyhow this guy bid on my item with 0% feedback and then promptly didnt pay. Only paid when I opened a case today.

I have never had the Dublin number...anyone else got it? But refuse to ring the Phillipines on an 0845 number and be stung!

Its impossible to block people just because they have zero feedback.

I could have saved you a call.

    This is what it says:

    Buyer requirements
Use buyer requirements to block certain buyers from bidding on or purchasing your items.

    Block buyers who:

    • Have received 2 unpaid item(s) recorded on their account within 12 month(s)
    • Have a primary delivery address in countries that I don't post to
    • Have 4 breach of policy report(s) within 6 month(s)
    • Have a Feedback score equal to or lower than -1
    • Have a Feedback score of 5 or lower and no credit card on file
    • Have bid on or bought my items in the last 10 days and have met my limit of 10 who have a feedback score of 5 or lower

    Change buyer requirements

So it is on there! That`s why I dont understand how he got through.

Surely a zero feedback is HIGHER than minus one, so cannot be blocked.

You highlighted the wrong bit. The line about feedback of -1 or lower is relatively pointless, only sellers could ever get a negative score and as pointed out 0 is higher than -1, not lower.
The line I highlighted is the only way of stopping a buyer with zero feedback, if they don't have a credit card on file. As it is there is no other way of stopping anyone with zero feedback and nor should there be.

It's probably why they keep idiots on customer service calls, to answer all the pointless calls they must get.

I completely agree with you but this guy`s name appeared in my restricted listings shown by Ebay as people who had tried to bid and couldnt do so( such as too many strikes etc) I`m sorry I wasnt very clear- my mistake. he still managed to bypass their embargos -not mine.

Unless he'd had strikes or no credit card on file he wasn't blocked.

I dont think you read my post. He was on alist of bidders prevented from bidding. I dont want to copy and paste but it is still there and this has been verified by Ebay. Lets draw a line underneath this now.
