  • Hi all

Not had time to read all the posts about dieting on the thread as have been away from home but what I have read had set a lot of alarm bells ringing.

There are several diets around which are purportedly by British Heat Foundation but they are bogus!:eek::eek: Please beware. If you want advice issued by British Heart Foundation please go to their website direct NOT via any British Heart Foundation diet links on Google etc.

This link will take you to a very useful page:

    http://www.bhf.org.uk/heart-health/prevention/healthy-eating/dieting-myths.aspx

My mother needed advice from a NHS dietician and I went with her for the appointments and learned a lot about it. The dietician said that crash diets where one can lose such as 9 pounds in a week etc are no use in the long term as the weight goes back on and some. Better to do it gradually following long-term healthy guidelines with a max of 3 pounds loss per week (and this will plateau and it will be less some weeks). It is always easier to get a big loss in the first few weeks especially with someone who has a lot to lose.

Will research this Harcombe diet when I get a mo. In the meantime, a big n-no on diets is cutting out alcohol.....just 'empty' calories.

    Thanks CBC :A

I think OH has decided to ditch the crazy diets and just eat more healthily from now on. He did have a really bad diet (burgers, pizzas, crisps etc etc) before so if he just cuts all that out and starts eating more fruit, veg and proper meals, he will lose weight anyway.

He's not really a big drinker thankfully. He has the odd Red Square and that's it (probably a couple of times a month).

Hello everyone - Happy June :)

It has been lovely and sunny here today. I woke up at 5am (honestly, I think I'm getting earlier and earlier!). So I settled down to watch last night's BGT and make a start on my 100 questions for today. I'd just finished them when the woman came to pick up our Music Magpie stuff (around 3pm), so at least I managed to get out to enjoy the nice day.

We went to the new shopping centre near to where we'll be living. I shouldn't have gone!! They've got a couple of shops that are so lovely. A little knick-knack type shop and a home interiors shop. I could have spent a fortune (don't worry, I didn't spend a penny!). Think I will have to avoid that place like the plague!!

I'm going to do some surveys tonight whilst I watch BGT and The Voice. I've got one to do for Yougov whilst watching BGT. Had to download an app on my iPhone and have to rate the show as it's happening. Get 100 points for doing it.

Must get on as I need to wash my hair and make something to eat before 7pm.

Have a good evening everyone :)

Stupid app didn't work . Oh well, I did an online MS job instead and have just requested a £19 payout on there :). I've also watched some videos on adpoints.

    Morning :)

I didn't get to bed until 11pm last night as I had an unexpected visitor. Let's just put it this way, it had 8 legs!! - I was a fast thing too, I think I managed to suck it up the hoover in the end (I felt it going up the tube anyway). Gives me the heebie jeebies!!

Anyway, must get started on my 100 questions for today.

    Enjoy the sunshine :)

Hello Emz. Just delurking to say well done on all your efforts. Quick question - what are these questions you are doing? I haven't come across these before.

    Thanks Fortune.

Phew, managed to get my 100 questions done for the day. Bit more tricky today.

Now, I'm starving!! Off to raid the freezer.

    Afternoon

I'm struggling again today. Only 30 questions done so far. I'm already starting to find it hard and it's only day 3 (not healthwise, more 'I'm so bored' kind of hard).

I just keep trying to think of that lovely £1,350 in my bank account in a month's time. I think once I see how much that helps me financially, I will be okay doing this every month as I won't want to miss the income.

Back to the questions - only 70 to go :(
