Easy for me to give advice:o when I'm not involved and have no idea of how much this stress is harmful to your overall health but please try to take a deep breath and keep calm. Battles like this (with totally incompetent and downright unprofessional people) are best fought with a clear head. I'm thinking of you and hoping everything will get sorted in your favour asap:kisses3:
I've got a battle to fight with my local Co-Op supermarket today where 5 items that I bought on Sunday were not itemised properly on the till receipt and I was not given the discounts in the final total I paid. I don't shop there as a rule and only went because someone told me they had some good offers on. I wouldn't have bought what I did if the stickers on the goods hadn't been obvious and stated the 'new' price. I should have checked the till receipt before leaving but it was almost closing and I had to be somewhere else. As soon as I got home I checked the receipt as a couple of items were for a neighbour and I needed to refresh my mind as to the cost and that's when I saw the discrepancies. I phoned the store staight away (to alert them to my complaint so they could note it and be aware of it when I ccould get in today as I wanted to cook some of the food in question) and was passed to 3 different people (no manager or senior staff on as it was a Bank Holiday Sunday and they were just about to close) and the person who dealt with me (very rudely in my opinion) said 'I can't do anything on the phone , you'll have to come in today before we close and bring the items back so someone can check'. As the items were fresh chickens and frozen goods, it was baking hot day and I was phoning from home 9 miles away and they were due to close in 15 minutes I didn't go back:(.
I cooked one of the chickens that evening (but retained the packaging with the stickered price) and decided to go in this morning. Trouble is, with petrol, parking and other costs the amount I get reimbursed (if they decide it is a genuine claim) is barely more than my outgoings to do it. I'm tempted to just forget about it. I know money's tight but is all all this hassle and time for about £5 worth it? I know I'll never shop there again however good their offers are supposed to be but it's no great loss to them as I'm hardly a regular customer or a big spender
P.S. Commiserations about the shoes. I'm exactly like you in that I have very few pairs and wear them to death when I get a pair that is really comfy and well 'broken in'. I walk a lot but have 'funny' feet and getting shoes that don't cause problems is a nightmare. My current favourites look really tatty now (OH says they look like shoes belonging to someone in the 3rd World:o) but I'd hate to throw them out.0 -
Hi CBC
Thanks for the advice. I have kept calm when I've been on the phone with them. They just don't have any sense of urgency.
I would leave the chicken if I were you. It sounds like by the time you have gone to the shop again, you will have spent more on petrol and parking. Just put it down to a bad experience and forget about it.
I already miss my shoes- they were just so comfy. OH is taking me shoe shopping at the weekend to see if I can find some more. It just won't be the same though.

I'm going to try a different tactic with the letting agent. I'm going to wait for today and see if this manager calls me back. If they don't, then I've got more ammunition for tomorrow and will call them first thing at 9am. I have been told that the administrator is back tomorrow, so at least they can't use that as an excuse and if I still haven't gotten an answer by the afternoon, I will drive to their office and not leave until they have dealt with me.

I just don't understand why its taking so long. I can completely understand your frustration!
I don't understand why no-one at estate/letting agents ever seem to take responsibility - I've had a situation recently where I was also passed from one person to another, promised a call back etc, no one ever just said, we're sorry, I just haven't done it/lost it etc.Getting myself back on track! Evening
Just a quick post. The last 24 hours have been hell. I finally found out that my OH passed the checks, but I didn't due to a detrimental landlord reference. It looked like we had lost the flat.
I got about 3 hours sleep last night and had hardly eaten through worry. Anyway, I spent all day on the phone to different people and have managed to sort it all out.
We can rent the flat. I was so relieved that I started crying on the phone to the bewildered letting agent.
Still don't have a moving in date, but I didn't want to push my luck. I'll sort that out next week!!

Hopefully things will go more smoothly now.

I'm so pleased for you, Emz:j
How awful that you had to go through all that, but at least you can get on with making plans for the move even though not in fine detail yet.
All the stress must have taken its toll on you so please try to get some 'you' time today and maybe catch up on some valuable sleep.0 -
Thanks Lou and CBC
. I'm still on cloud nine.
Pretty peeved at my current letting agent though. They nearly lost me my flat!! The problem was one late rent payment in over 3 years. They were asked the question 'does she pay her rent on time' and they said 'no'. I know they had to tell the truth, but they could have clarified it a bit more so that it didn't look like I was a constant late payer - and I paid £30 for that reference.
Anyway, they said that I was a good tenant, so I argued that was proof that I wasn't constantly late paying my rent. My new landlady agreed with me and has agreed to waive the dodgy reference and accept me and OH anyway.
So, we've got 60 days to sell all our [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] lovely stuff and move out of the flat. I'm hopefully doing a carboot 2 weeks Sunday (bank holiday weekend) to sell all the little bits and pieces. I would love to make £100 doing that, but think £50 is probably more realistic.
I'm going to try and make extra cash wherever I can and add that to the flat fund. I got paid £12 from Quidco this morning, so that has been added.
I think OH is away tonight, so I'm going to get into organising mode and find loads of stuff to sell.

Hi Muser - thanks for subscribing
.
I've just spent the last hour going through all of my toiletries/cosmetics and have managed to combine 2 big boxes by either throwing out old products or putting new products that I will never use into my stuff for the car boot. I think I easily got £10 worth of stuff to sell, maybe more.
I think tomorrow night, I'm going to tackle my clothes and start taking pictures of my furniture to put on Gumtree.
For now though, the tennis is calling me.
