I did say "the majority of folk", there is always an exception to the rule.

BTW, very unusual choice of words : "My mother had to sell her son's car" !

Can we ask how much WBAC eventually paid for your mothers sons car?

As you ask, she's 90 and has never passed her driving test. Not sure what she would do with a V6 Golf. The thought of her trying to learn to drive in it was terrifying :)
  • We buy any car don't buy any car at all and should be sued for false advertising! I got a quote from them of £190 for my car which I accepted and made an appointment to have the vehicle checked. They did not turn up for the appointment so I made another. They didn't turn up for this either so I complained. I was then told that no one had come to see the car because they didn't want it!! absolute cowboys and full of it not to mention unprofessional and don't actually do what they claim in the title of the company.

I think you`ll find it`s YOU that has to turn up with the vehicle at one of their centres/offices.
  • I was initially very impressed with simplicity of getting an offer price for my car online from webuyanycar.com, which was also very reasonable. The rest of the process was far from impressive; after nit-picking about every minor dint and scratch on the car (reasonable wear and tear) I was offered about 40% less than the price provided online. As I started walking out of the door the priced was increased to about 30% less, so I walked anyway. It seems clear to me that the business model is based on offering a reasonable price online - to get you interested, then knocking down the price dramatically when you go to see them. I would be curious to know what percent of cars are actually sold at the price provided online – I suspect this would be a small fraction!

You are also more likely to get a fair price if you have a desirable car, I am under the impression they buy all these cars cheap give them a valet and straight to the auctions. Used cars is a very strong market at the moment.

You'll never get a "fair price" from places like them, they sell their cars to the trade. You'll get a no quibble price where you can sell your car fast and wipe your hands clean of it.

I wanted to use them to get rid of my old car to free up money to buy a new one. Thought their offer was a bit low so I offered it around my workplace and all my relatives for that price, no refunds/arguments.

Everybody saw it as a bargain and it was much more convenient for me. Also feels better knowing that someone I know is getting the benefit of a bargain car.

If you contact WBAC for a quote and then wait a week, they normally increase their offer a little bit

We used them recently. Had our second car on autotrader for a month without anyone being interested. The price was as recommended by Autotrader and fitted in with others on the site. We needed to shift it so went to WBAC. The online price offered was about £500 less than Autotrader but we liked the fact it would go. Took it down there and they gave it a good look over. Not really interested in anything other than bodywork and number of keys/paperwork. They used a paint thickness monitor on each panel to detect repairs. They took off some more money due to scratched that I hadn't picked up on during my cursory look to put into their online system.

Overall we got a reasonable price and got rid of the car - we knew it would be less as they do have a service to fulfil and obviously make their money. Those saying people who use it are dumb are just silly - sometimes price isn't everything when you need to sell your car...

Would recommend them if you have a half decent car to get rid of in a set time and cant wait around for the right buyer.
