we sold our 60plate I10 to a company called Car Arena.

checked we buy any car and they offered 4.3k for it (less any other damage/blemishes they found when we took it to them for appraisal and then theres the 50quid admin fee and 25quid for next day payment).

Checked out Car Arena (putting in the blemishes on the car we could see and the damaged aerial - exactly the same as WBAC), and they came back with an offer of 3.9k for the car. Arranged to sell the car to them (as had heard bad reports about WBAC finding minor blemishes to the car to get the price down and didn't want the grief of taking it to them and having to walk away without the car being sold). Car Arena arranged to have the car collected within 24 hours of agreeing to sell them the car.

A driver from a 3rd party collection company came the following day to collect the car - completed a collection sheet noted all the minor marks on it and even noticed a few scuff on the tyres, and a scuff on the back bumper/wing (which I never noticed to be perfectly honest), he called Car Arena and advised them of the condition of the vehicle (he advised them about the back bumper/wing scuff mark and told them that he thought it would polish out!), they transferred the full amount into our back within 15/20 mins and they driver drove the car away.

The wife then went to collect our new car a couple of hours later.

Not a single issue with Car Arena and the service offered - happy with price we got for the car (we was offered a straight swop on a car that was priced at 4k on the forecourt and 3.6k from the dealer if we didn't want to swop our i10 for the car on the forecourt at 4k.

Would recommend car arena to get a quotation for selling a car to.... a simple, hassle free transaction with no stress at all (which from reviews I read on the net, could have been quite a stressful time with WBAC).

Out of curiosity I've just tried Arena and they don't ask for blemishes etc.?
Their instant valuation was £1000 less, at £6800, than a trade in I'd already been offered by a main dealer!
    It's a 2010 "10" plate Toyota Yaris Diesel.
£3900 for a "60" plate i10, was it that low? I would have thought at least £4000 for a "60" basic 1 litre version and more for a "60" higher spec. bigger engine.
  • I've just used webuyany car and have to say I am very disappointed.

I sold a 6 year old Renault Scenic which despite the 80,000 miles was in really good condition. I had checked online and got a price - I think I was a little naive and thought that as the car was in such good condition that I would get that price.

Even when the car was inspected the webuyanycar representative commented on the condition of the vehicle and despite looking for over 15 minutes found 2 very slight (his words) stone chips on the bonnet and a light scratch of less than 3cm.

We went inside, and I've got to admit I was then stunned when he told me that the valuation of my car was £350 less than originally quoted. I really wasn't expecting that and I was numbed and could barely speak. I had cancelled my insurance that evening so was faced with either going ahead or walking out.

I did proceed, in reflection I should have walked out. I could easily have sold that car privately for £300-£400 more (I feel a fool for going ahead, but I was genuinely shocked).

I've since complained to webuyanycar, you won't be surprised to know that they couldn't care less.

I feel very foolish, I should have known that they would try this and perhaps be prepared, I know I was naive but one of my failures is that I am too trusting.

There is no way the slight marks they noted would reduce that car value by £350, the representative claimed that it was the cost of respraying the car, but only a fool would respray a car for a couple of slight chips. Clearly, they value a car then knock you down once you are in their offices.

I feel totally ripped-off by webuyanycar, perhaps I'm being unfair and perhaps they were right, but I'm talking about how I feel, and I feel cheated.

I'll never use their service again and I'll never recommend it to anyone.

All I will say is be prepared, the price they offer online is not what you will get, they will knock down your price. The idea is a good one, its a hassle free way of selling a car quickly (although they still haven't paid me for my car and they have had it for 3 days).

If you're considering using webuyanycar then proceed with caution and have an alternative should they try and unfairly knock down your price. Be prepared.

You'll see from my signature that money is tight for me, I've battled for 6 years to get myself straight and still have some way to go - that £350 hurts like you would not believe.

In summary, good idea, nice advertising, but they sting!

I've had a similar experience with WBAC - they don't seem to realise that a car being in "good condition" and "as new" just aren't the same thing...But then it's not just WBAC that do this - my local honda dealer knocked £500 off their valuation because the car had bird poo on it...Now that I found somewhat shocking...as I walked out.

Another customer kicking themselves due to their own failings and blaming the big bad company. <Sighs>

Just done a quote on their website for my 'weekend' car, solely for comparison. Came up with £1415. As a comparison I rang up a dealer and they offered me £3,200 over the phone (that would certainly increase if they they saw it). Privately I'd have no trouble getting £4,650. Who on earth would use this service?

They offer reasonable money for cars they want and know they can resell easily. Cars they dont want they offer poor money for.
  • Had you called your thread please review We Buy Any CAR, I would have passed it by.
I thought you had found a site which would buy my review of my car.
My wife however got your meaning, so it is just me then.
Interestingly they seem to be giving a much more favourable deal than I expected.
I thought once to got to their depot the deal would be similar to we buy your gold for 25% of scrap value.

We were quoted £4050 for the wife's car -- popular model, easily sold. It gave me an idea of the base price. However, it has a few scratches and I guess this would have turned into £3,800 less admin fee, so £3,750. sold for £4,300 privately and that was priced to sell quickly. I pitched it above the accident repaired ones on Autotrader but made it the cheapest for year/mileage by £5. WBAC is really for the lazy or desperate or those who know there is a big bill looming and have too much conscience to sell privately.

This is the basic facts of WBAC, and im sorry to disagree completely with everyone who has said describe it accurately.

Don't, your getting a quote, the final price is upto the agent, and they get paid a bonus for the difference between the quote and price paid.

I sold my Scenic (76,000, diesel, really nice condition) a few years back, was honest on my description. IE 1 Key, some minor scratches/dings from car doors.

Got to the appointment, and the dealer tried to be cheaky! They charged me £130 for a replacement key ( which is £75 ) and then i realised they'd already charged me that amount off the initial quote. So he wanted £260 for a £75 key. Not to mention, he tried to claim the dings were more than they were. I did point out, twice, that both these points were ALREADY in the quote.

I argued my case, and only when he pointed out a scuffed alloy did i feel it justified to knock off £95 from the quote.

I walked away happy though, the service, mot and tax and insurance were all due within 3 weeks, which would have cost me £1k+.

My advice to anyone going down this route, put your reg and your mileage in (and number of keepers) and leave it at that, or you'll be done twice for it
