Iv'e searched the forum and it's been a while since this was discussed, so just looking for some more recent experiences please.
I'm happy to accept less than the value, as just want to drive it in & walk away with the cash. However, how likely am I to get the online value?
Thanks.

Try it and see. Have to let us know. Depends how you describe it and what you expect for it.
Probably one of the worst ways to sell a car though. Ebay it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I have highlighted the above as this is the crucial part.
You have to be totally honest with yourself and describe it as accurately as you can. If you say the condition is excellent (based on the year/mileage etc) and they quote you £xxxx and they turn up or you take it to them and they say it is average for year/mileage and worth £200 less because it has scrapes/dings etc. You will always get personal difference's when describing a car and it's condition so get someone you know thats fairly critical for these things and ask them to describe the condition from the POV and go from there.0 -
You are also more likely to get a fair price if you have a desirable car, I am under the impression they buy all these cars cheap give them a valet and straight to the auctions. Used cars is a very strong market at the moment.
I await someone who says they only offered me £75 for my 2.4litre 1989 honda with full service history etc, they dont want it because it will be more hassle selling that than a 4 year old BMW 320D.
I agree though, make sure you list every detail and also be strong with the guy buying it, he can always make a "phone call". Give it a good clean so there is less things he can mark you down on. Remember there is also a £49 administration charge.0 -
Ye, I noticed the admin fee when I was reading the info in the email. I was hoping for £800, they valued it at £680 which I'd take for no hassle but to then lose another £49.... Also it's not my car, so I'd need to phone and explain the situation first & make sure they'd take it.
I could probably get £800 if I sold it privately, but I just don't have the time and need it gone asap.
Is ebay any good for selling cars? I only sell small things on there. Do you put it on at a fixed price or just let it go to auction?
Will let you know how I get on.0 -
Do a quick quote on webuyanyheapofjunk and then start the auction at that. Say its what you have been offered as a trade in but think its worth more.
Sells for more then brilliant, If not take it to them and see what they pay.
Stick it on tonight and it could be gone by 10am saturday.
Just tell buyers it stays listed until they turn up with cash and there will be no haggling. The price is the price.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Got quoted £810, walked away with £750. For a total heap of junk albeit a shiny one.0

Did you do a valuation with wewantanycar.com too. I sold my car last week to them as their valuation was around £5900 and they knocked of £200 for two little scratches. WBAC online valuation was maximum £5200!
The most annoying bit with these lot is it takes 3 days for money to come in to your account.0 -
I'm not in a hurry for the money, just need to get rid of the car. That sounds a bit dodgy  I can assure you it is all above board :j0

I found webuyanycar to be ok. We were offered £6750 as a trade in price when buying a new car from a dealer - webuyanycar offered £7870 less the fees which are expensive. I had advertised the car for 3 weeks at £8000 without one phone call - so I guess they paid about the right price. It was a newish diesel Polo so quite desirable.0
