Need to pick your brains, I've only ever used aida, I want to do a tatty ted birth sampler but it has lots of BABS, would you get the same effect using evenweave instead?? I have some tester pieces of evenweave, maybe I should try it myself :rotfl: If anyone has done similar i'd love to see a picture :)

I personally would stick with aida. I have only ever done one project with evenweave and I did get on ok with it but [I personally think] that a tatty ted design needs the firm, crisp material that aida can be whereas evenweave is a tad more delicate. I would use evenweave if it had lots of half and 3/4 stitches but not because it had lots of awkward back stitch. When I've bought evenweave before, its always had a softer feel to it and I'm not sure how well it would stand the odd awkward stitches you would need to do.

Will be interesting to see what other stitchers say.

    Hi ladies.

FE. Oh no! Hope you find the Vintage chart and fabric soon.

Nmm. Czar looks fab in the custom frame, much better with the mount than without.
    Very nice AOY finish.

Mrsmp. What a bargain at the carboot!

    Ocemeer. Nice update pics.

Mags. Thanks for the paperclip idea when parking threads, such a simple but effective fix for a small problem I have been having. I have a small length parked, about 2 inches, but last week it was doing my head in when stitching around it because it kept 'attaching' itself to the length I was stitching with. I had to keep flicking it out of the way but now hopefully the paperclip will weight it and keep it out of my way.
I had a different idea of using a drawing pin, wrapping the parked piece of thread around the pin and rest it in a hole in the fabric but typically couldn't find a drawing pin when I wanted one :D

    MrsTM. Nice progress pic.

    As for me.
No stitching done here over the weekend. Kitchen arrived saturday so spent most of the day lugging it into the garage, checking over every piece and finding it somewhere to live until we are ready for it to go in. Typically some parts were missing and the breakfast bar worktop has to go back and another sent out.
Yesterday was spent looking for tiles. Have found a few we like so just got to make a decision on them.

I hope to get some stitching in later!
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I've given up looking for now. It will no doubt turn up when I'm looking for something else ! It is annoying but my own fault. I should be more organised.....

Here's an update for my Pooh and Piglet project. I think I started this project in March last year !

I'm taking update pics everytime I complete a 10 x 10 square. The square I started yesterday (and finished today) is that with the green stitches in it. I've also taken advantage/made use of the parking technique suggested on here. :j ready to start the next squares....

MRS_T_M, I saw your mario before it looked great. Where did you purchase/get the charts from or are they designed by yourself?

The one I'm working on right now doesn't have a chart that I could buy, but I found a picture of a completed piece that I'm using to make mine. The previous ones I've found something similar that I liked online and changed it to make it my own. There are lots of free small mario themed charts out there that can be pieced together to form a scene. Right now due to budget constraints I'm sticking to free charts/patterns. HTH

Just popping in for a quick :hello:

    Lovely pics everyone.

Caroline - looking forward to seeing progress on Coke lorry.

    PaP - love your heart.

Chicky - haven't your little ones grown. Still very cute.

nmm - Czar looks brill with frame and mount. Well done with AOY - sure Brednall will be thrilled with it.

Mrs MP - great find at car boot - what a bargain. Defo rude to leave it ;)

Laura - good luck with study. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

ocemeer - lovely update. Look forward to seeing your next update.

    Mrs T_M - nice update too. :T

FE - good luck with WTP. Hope vintage things turn up - probably will when you are not looking for them s*ds law.

Re thread parking (or whatever its called) - I've tried it, quite liked it but I forget about doing it. What am I like (second thoughts don't answer that). :D

Sleeping Beauty update - page 6 is now complete :j (2 pages to go). Will try to press her later and post an update piccy. Going to put it to one side for a little while (probably a long while) so that I can make a start on Lets Do Wine cushion - evenweave arrived and threads (well all except one) so I can make a start on it soon (not today though as the friend who it is for is coming around for a meal tonight).

Just finishing off a cuppa and piece of homemade choccy cake (well it is a BH) and then I will have to get stuck back into chores. :(

Still no news on Louise I take it???? Hope everything is ok.

Hope you all find some stitchy time.

Can I ask your opinions please ladies - I was wondering about filling in the 11 count blank aida (which is darkish cream) at the top of the pic with half cross stitch. I didn't know whether this would look better than leaving it plain. What do you think????

PS Sorry for grainy looking pics :(

WOW more great bargains. Well done you. I have never really found much at either carboot sales or charity shops. I did once get two large square IKEA pictures from car boot sale and used the frames for cross stitch - I think they cost about £1.50. :D

    Looking forward to poppy update.

    Hello everyone

Thought I pop by and say HI.

Still working away on my Sandy Hook hearts.

Was working today, trying not get too downhearted about not getting my promotion - boss said there will be other chances.

I remember once buying a kit from charity shop and just for the threads and aida - wasn't too keen on the pattern. When I opened it up it was half done.

    Kind wishes,

    sweetcarer ;)

well I managed about 28 stitches before I decided laying down on the sofa with the cat and my audible book appealed more...

i've just woken up and now have to rewind my audible book as I don't know where i got to.... suppose I can try again at the stitching part.....

so funny, reminds me of the days when I got books on tape from the library. I don't think I listened to a single one from start to finish, I fell asleep within a few mins of them starting and woke up to the sound of the tape switching off !

I've got a Morse story on my MP3 and I listen to it on the plane to and from Florida - never have any trouble sleeping ! :rotfl:
