Haven't been here much as hubby treated me to a new kit. After much himming and hahhing I finally allowed him to buy me the Coke Lorry kit. For anyone interested in this I would pay the extra and get the kit as there is loads of threads. Only fault is they only allow a 1" border all around and I had a lot of fraying, hence the tape round the outside.

This is a lovely design and for me Christmas starts once I see the Coca Cola adverts :D. I have seen a couple of these charts for sale on fleabay, is that where you got yours from?

Ladies, can I pick your brains please. I have done various cross stitches over the years but none have been largish ones. I am about to embark on a beautiful wolf one for my Daughter and it has 8 pages! I have made stitched guide lines on the fabric because I want to start in the left hand corner but I have read about you Ladies who don't tie off the threads, you talk about 'parking' them.....can someone tell me what this is please?

I've learnt about parking in the process of doing my HAED (36 pages of pattern!!!)

What I do is finish a patch of a single colour ( I tend to work in blocks of 10x 10 or 10 x 20 at a time, depending on the pattern).

Then, as I am working from l to r on the pattern, I look for the nearest stitch in that same colour in the next block across.

Bring the thread up in the left hand bottom corner of that stitch (if you start from a different corner of the cross stitch, bring it up in the corner you would start from) and unthread the needle. Your thread is now parked.

Hopefully you can see (this is what I didn't get to start with) that it doesn't matter what colour your parked thread is....when you pick it up again, you'll know what colour it is by matching the square on the fabric with the pattern. As long as you always park it in the place on each cross that you start, you'll never get it confused - because no other stitch is going to start from that point.

    Hope that makes sense :rotfl:

    Hi ladies.

Caroline. Nice progress on the Coke design. Look forward to more updates and watching the Lorry come into view :D

PAP. Thanks for posting both pics :) I think the heart looks good in just the half stitches. Whatever you decide in the end it will look fab.

Chicky. Love the pic of your boys with Iron Man.

MOS. When I come to end of a thread I pass the threaded needle under some nearby stitches on the back of the design for about an inch then snip off the thread, that to me is tying off.
Parking threads is really simple. The following link explains it well with pics, http://www.craftywriter.co.uk/index.php/parking-guide/
I park a thread when I have come to the end but have not got enough stitches nearby to go under and tie off. I bring the thread to the front and leave it there until I have stitched around the area and can tie off.
    Hope that helps.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I couldn't understand yesterday why I just felt so flat and felt like there was a huge grumpy cloud surrounding my head especially as (1) I wasn't at work and (2) it was the first day of the bank holiday weekend. I couldn't shake this feeling all day and really felt quite miserable without actually knowing why. Then it got to to the evening and I took some time out and whilst pondering my thoughts remembered about the email I had received that morning that I think was the underlying reason for feeling so rubbish all day. I still don't feel too great this morning but I'm determined to be kind to myself and not let the grumpy cloud get me again. I haven't felt like this in ages and its not nice experiencing it again.

Anyhow in stitchy news, I'm cross with myself because thanks to my fantastic organisation skills and sticking power, I've mislaid the key and material for this I don't remember actually stitching very much of it so the material can be replaced from my stash but I'm a bit scuppered with no key !
serves me right really for being so indecisive and having so many UFOs on the go....

Hi guys some photos for you as I know you all love them :)

Czar framed, this is not his permanent frame I hate the extra inch either side, i'll get a custom made one when I order BD's. Its a 3 aperture frame which i'll turn into something else later.
