Did a quick test of a custom frame for Czar, I want something like this I think he looks much better :)

Ocemeer, for photobucket I copy the direct link, then in the reply box on mse click the yellow square with a mountain in it and paste the url there overwriting the http:// or copy the img url and paste into your reply. Either way works on MSE :) Oops forgot to say the links you need are in the box on the right called "links to share this photo".

Thank you for that easy to understand description. The Coke Lorry has a lot of stitching that parking would be handy for but I just couldn't get the hang of it...lol
    !

    You're welcome :)

I've found it can get a bit messy if you park a lot of different threads, but you can use a paperclip to fix them together, which also makes them hang down out of the way, or if they're long enough, flip them over the top of your hoop/frame.

Looking forward to seeing more updates - before Christmas! :rotfl:

You're dead right - he looks so much better. I suppose the alternative is to stitch some more (made up design) on either side.....:ducks and runs in case of objects being flung: :rotfl:

Actually mags_cat i did think about doing that, but only on the grassy side as it would be easy to extend the pattern. However i couldn't be bothered and would rather spend £15-£20 on a lovely frame, ahem well my OH will :rotfl:I think at only 19cm high it just seems too skinny and the mount really helps make it wider. Just got to finish BD and i can get them ordered :D

Just a quick post to show what I'm working on now. Doing this one on 18 count. Need to order lots more blues and tans/browns to finish.

  • pap half crossstitch heart does look very good, as you say if you decide to go over and fill the stitces once youve finished it wont be a problem -you could always use a different shade for the 2nd half if you did decide on full BUT i do like it as it is.

MMP, I am still undecided but have already started on the other half. I did think about a darker shade on top... Maybe I should do one line as full stitch and one with a darker shade and decide then? Either way I am certainly stitching this for me in 1/2 stitches :D

Better picture of Coke Lorry. This is after 19 hours of stitching...xx

Caroline, that looks much better! Sorry it must have been your webcam. Still undecidd if I want to stitch it though. I have the christmas angel on teh go at the moment and really don't want to add another huge piece to the mix. I can't wait to see your progress :j

    Shelly, thanks :o

nmm, that AOY design is stunning! Great to see Czar framed but I do agree it does need a custom frame. That mock up frame looks great.
Thank you so much for that explanation, I am starting a HAED design once I have done the wolf and border collie Xstitch :j

MOS, you can also park your thread but park the whole needle iyswim. It requires you to own a lot of needles the same size but you can get bundles on ebay quite cheaply. It saves even more time re-threading each time you require that colour.

MRS_T_M, more mario I see :j Looks great, how are you finding stitching on 18ct?

I am loving the 18 count! I actually prefer it over the 14 count I learned on. We already have two frames (4 actual pieces) filled with mario themed cross stitch on top of the china cabinet. This one is also 'busy' enough to keep me from becoming bored and switching over to something else for a bit so far. :)

I have been very interested in reading about this parking business. and thanks for the blog post that someone posted the link to. very interesting. PAP - what do you mean about parking the needle too?

SO last night we caught up with the last two episodes of the following which we have been watching on s ky
atlantic. it was ok but with series 2 in the pipeline, these last two episodes didn't hold my attention much - the early part of this series was much better.

then we watched a bit of peter kay who was actually quite funny although I didn't watch much (too much vino :rotfl:). I remember reading the reviews for the dvd which were poor but the show actually looked quite good - recorded it to watch one rainy afternoon with my stitching.

I haven't decided yet on my plans for today. I think it will involve stitching.... and if so, probably more of the winnie the pooh and piglet design that has been a UFO for over a year. I must start sticking with projects until they are finished !!

Have a lovely bank holiday monday all :T
  • MRS_T_M, I saw your mario before it looked great. Where did you purchase/get the charts from or are they designed by yourself?

Hey Flat eric, what I mean is many park the thread and un-thread their needle, ie they have one needle at use for the whole project. I find it easier if every thread had a needle. So say you had 4 shade of blue they each had a needle. So you park it as before but instead of having your thread dangling you actually park the needle on the outside of your project. Be sure to park then on the opposite side to which you are stitching.

If you fear the mess you may get into then tie off each set of stitchs and put your threaded needle into a piece of foam/spange and leave it threaded. You can purchase pako needle organisers but a sponge does the same job for a fraction of the cost :T Plus as they are so cheap you could write the colour numbers onto the sponge when parking your needles. If I want to reuse the sponge I just cut a piece of paper the correct size for the sponge and write on that.

The only real expense with this is having many needles but your can get single wrapped ones (the same as you get in free kits) on ebay in the 100's for pennys :D

Need to pick your brains, I've only ever used aida, I want to do a tatty ted birth sampler but it has lots of BABS, would you get the same effect using evenweave instead?? I have some tester pieces of evenweave, maybe I should try it myself :rotfl: If anyone has done similar i'd love to see a picture :)
