    nmm that looks lovely

maria, today in the paper its the teadress pattern its printed but you have to enlarge it by 500% !!!! that would use a heck of a lot of paper. the full sides patterns can be sent for but you need to collect the tokens, (15 of them) i might be able to lay my hands on the tokens for you mil has the paper and i doubt shell want he patterns so i can ask her to save them for you then youll just have to pay P&P on them its under a £5 for the lot but have left the paper upstairs i can check properly. if you do want them let me know and ill ask her. saves you buying the paper just for them.

busy today so doubt ill get any stitchyness done but will try. i need tink finishing by mid may to get back on track with other stuff.

    have a lovely day all

Here is my stitching so far of the daisy design from the new Michael Powell book. Front and back pics above. lets see how neat the back is after I've finished it !

 Oh my goodness, your stitching on the back is so neat! I couldn't post a photo of the back of my work - it's an absolute mess!
  • If you are sure you don't mind Mrs m I would be really grateful thank you

My stitching didn't used to be so neat Gildius as the following two pics will illustrate. This is a kit I bought in 1998 so when I first started stitching. I don't think it helped my cause that there is blending (where two different coloured strands of floss are used).

FE, i might be able to juggle 2 sets of tokens if you want some, it says tokens will be printed until 31 may and you need 15 plus a cheque for £2.25 (to cover p&p) to get all 8 'free' patterns. we get the paper mon to sat mil gets it every day inc sundays. it doesnt say you HAVE to include a certain amount of sunday ones so with all the papers between the 2 of us i should be able to get at least 45 tokens. i can juggle them round so we all get different dates.

So Cross Stitch Card Shop has landed on my doormat this morning and here is my review.

    First impressions

Like the monty bear design featured on the front cover.

    Free kit

no preview pic last month only the tagline, cute somebuny to love kit free with next month's issue. Not very impressed to be honest. Design is cute but I am sure this design/kit has featured before. and too much back stitching for my liking.

Chasing butterflies - monty the bear design.

This is cute and my immediate reaction when I saw it on the front cover was that oh I must stitch that. but ....

I'm annoyed at the size of the chart - too small for my eyes :( and the background is not as you would think (i.e. stitched on patterned aida), each square is stitched to create the background.

Dearest dad (hot air baloon kit deisgns)

these are ok but are not for me.

    polka dot pastels

    not sure about these.

    top topiary
big thumbs down for these designs.

    ship shape
    these are ok. bright colours.

    you're invited

I think Louise would like these and talking of Louise, where is she? I hope she is ok. sending hugs xxx Chicky i think you would like these too.

    time to relax

Lots of detail in these cards, quite like.

    request a chart
    nothing I like here.

    next month
like the look of the zoo friends. The all our yesterdays flower girl kit looks like something we have seen before.
graffiti designs look quite cool. likewise birthday banners.

    garden buddies
cute but not sure I like enough to stitch. think I would have preferred brighter colours.
    summer beauties
not keen. definitely not something I will be stitching.

    just for dad
some nice designs/ideas here. definitely one to keep as useful quick stitches.

    overall opinion
    ok but not great.

Don't worry about saving the tokens for me Mrs M. but thank you so much for the offer. I would have got the patterns if they were collectable cards but as I am about as good at sewing as a chocolate teapot, I think I might just stick to my cross stitching :rotfl:

Do you know in the future these magazines may be helpful as when someone like FE is looking for a chart they will be able to type a bit (like "stocking fillers" into google and our posts will come up then the magazine will be easy to suss :)

Cross Stitch Card Shop - Issue 90 Mau/ June 2013

Summer with Somebunny - cover kit

it's cute - but somebunny is not my cup of stitching tea.

    chasing butterflies

cute but not sure i'd stitch it

    Dearest Dad

I do like the idea of the hot air balloons..... but not sure I'd use them.
Might tweak them in the future for thank you cards.

    Polka dot pastels

I reallllly like these. My friend has just developed a red polka dot obsession so might change one of the colours for her b'day card.

    Top Topiary

hmmm I can see why some would appeal.... but not for me.
    I like the lettering!!

    ship shape

I quite like some of these. again perhaps but perhaps not.

    You're invited

Some lovely simple but effective kids designs for Birthday cards.

    Time to relax.....

A bit too much detail for a card, but i like them.
The view from the balcony could make a nice framed picture present

    request a chart

Buzzard - not sure i'd use it but nice.
Coral - i can see why it would make a 35th anniversary (coral) card using it.
Ice Hookey - not sure i'd use it but it's a nice chart
Cocktail glasses - could come in handy

    garden buddies

tortoises this time - hmmmm they don't really take my fancy but if you have someone who likes tortoises then quite cute.

    summer beauties
    ermm - nah

    just for dad gift tags
nice and simple - will actually probably use a couple of the motifs for a card instead.

    next issue

birthday banners - i like these

graffiti greetings - i like the ps controller but thats the only one taking my fancy

    beautiful birdhouses
    hmmm..... nah

girly gift tags - could be useful

Zoo friends - these are cute

all our yesterdays cover kit - not really for me.

The creater of 'woodland folk' apparently has a cat series starting which could be lovely or could be terrible.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
