There's only one word for it - stunning. The back stitch really makes it stand out.

DOH - have been out for lunch today - we didn't know where we were going to eat until we got into town and lo and behold got home and found a voucher for BOGOF on mains for the place we picked  That will teach me not to be super organised and actually check the web before we leave although to be fair, the e-mail wasn't sent until 2.30 odd this afternoon and I'm not actually sure if what we picked for our mains qualified. Still annoying though as was my OH's full (untouched) beer sliding off the table onto the floor although the pub kindly replaced it free of charge :T

So I keep checking to see if Dictionary of Technology is yet for sale. I still can't make up my mind about whether I like it enough but I am definitely warming to it and I think I might buy it depending on price or add it to my birthday wish list.

I've had a lovely long weekend and wish my leave extended until next week too but sadly it doesn't. Roll on the weekend .... :rotfl:

but i hope it was nice FE..... tis always the way tho, you always find the voucher too late.

re: technology Helen said on the 18th that the Bothy designer hoped to have it finished by next Week (so 25th April so I would hope it is out early next month).

2 children supposed to be in bed........ one has eventually stopped screaming and reaslied it will get him nowhere. the other has trashed his room and been told to tidy it up because i won't be.

Just catching up on sewing bee as nowt else to watch till 9pm (I'm only on the 2nd episode) - Claudia Winkleman really makes me laugh.
.............but I will never be able to do anything even remotely close to what they produce.

Well I still haven't finished catwoman so off to get started. my hands keep really drying out the and the back of one under little finger keeps chapping and is sore and itchy so i keep using handcream but it's gone really greasy then i can't stitch :(

Yes the food was tasty - I would have been really grumpy otherwise :rotfl: It was nice to do something different on a Monday and I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow! I found it amusing that Cross Stitch Card Shop dropped through my door as last issue, I was off sick and it landed on my mat although sadly the kit was not to my liking and I didn't feel like stitching - just wanted sleep. I had thought about going sick next time the mag was due :o but thought better of it but still got my timings quite good with booking the day off :T

Bothy threads have the technology kit for sale now but its nearly £30 (well £27.49 - not sure if there's postage too) and that's pricey so I might wait and see if anywhere else has it cheaper. Failing that it will get added to my birthday wish list. Have already added a couple of knitting books to my list. hired both from the library and I like both but don't really need them at the moment so will wait for a bit until I buy.

re your hands, I would recommend the p almolive honey soap or alternatively the t esco (runs up stairs to check) honeysuckle and silk liquid soap. Try to avoid those soaps that have antibacterial properties as they tend to dry out your hands. I can be a bit OCD about washing my hands and suffer if I wash too much and with a nasty soap. even if I only use it once or twice  If your hands get really bad then eumovate cream is fab as is aqueous cream. I tend to use the eumovate cream if my hands get really dry and sore/cracked and the aquesous creams if they are just a bit dry. Both can be bought at the chemist - eumovate possibly behind the counter and also available on prescription too - although don't know how the price compares. I've bulk bought those white gloves before. and if my hands are really sore, I sleep with lathers of cream on my hands and my white gloves and eventually my hands sort themselves out. :)

ahhhh - i bet its the antibacterial soap (liquid) in the kitchen........... that and the fact i seem to have had my hands in cleaning fluid and washing up water all weekend (well seems like it).
hopefully 4 days of work will fix them as i will keep my hands plastered in my nice hand cream. but thank you i know there is aquasus around the house somewhere.

eek that is pricy (typical bothy)

  • chicky - love nightwing. Just caught up with your diary - PHEW (hope you manage to get something sorted with them)

    maria - love update

sweetcarer - sorry to hear things didn't work out. Hopefully you may get chance to give it another go in the future. Love the green heart and the yellows you've chosen btw.

Razz - welcome to the Cafe

FE - good start with the daisy. Looking forward to seeing next update. I only had a quick glance at the MP book as I MUST not start anything new just yet. :D

    nmm - AOY looking good.

Soulie - sending lots of positivity for Friday. x

Managed a fair bit of stitching on Sleeping Beauty yesterday and a little bit today. Had to buy some more of one of threads as I was running out. The threads came from 'foreign parts' but it does include DMC equivalent. Have ordered it and will check it when it arrives and if I don't think its a good enough match I will take the little bit I have left and try and match it up with something at my local shop. Hopefully that will be the only one thats going to be short. I am now half way down page 6 - 2.5 pages to go :j

Ordered evenweave and threads for Lets Do Wine and will make a start on that when all the stuff arrives cos (1) not really used to evenweave and (2) going to make it into a cushion - so I will need plenty of time to source fabric for cushion and get it made up in time for friends birthday which is the beginning of Oct. Sounds a long way off but knowing my luck it will be here before we know where we are ;)

    Take care everyone
