Do you know, I haven't actually paid any attention to what fabric size etc it tells you to use?!!! I was thinking of using 14 count white but wondered if anyone thought a coloured aida might suit some of the designs better.
ahh, I shall await my book and then look into colours. it would have to be a pale colour.... antiquy or lemon i reckon.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

You may remember me posting the above pic which *I think* came from an issue of Cross Stitch Gift Shop.
I don't remember how long Cross Stitch Gift Shop was in publication for(nor why they binned the mag
).
I've found in my stash Issues 2,4, 5 and I bought issue 3 online so I know the design isn't in these issues. If you happen to have any of the other old issues of this mag and can have a nose for me then I would be very grateful. This mag rarely pops up on e b a y and when it does, they are often pricey. so it is hard to eliminate .... especially as I can't be completely sure the design came from this mag. It has all the hallmarks however of being published by the same people as World of Cross Stitching and Cross Stitch Card Shop.
Thank you all very much :T0 -
still no luck with it FE

Hello all! I'm a relative newbie to cross-stitching, but I've been following this thread for a while :hello:
However, I've hit a snag with my first ever project and wondered if you could help me.
I... don't understand backstitching. I mean, I get the mechanics of it when it comes to creating a simple straight line. But when the pattern calls for the more wibbly bits, I'm not sure what to do.
E.g. this pattern. How would you do the curvy bit of the ear, where it covers several rows? Do you just put it up one and down where it angles once for that whole bit -- the thread doesn't seem like it'd be too secure if you did that? (I'm explaining myself really well here...)
If someone could enlighten me to the noble art of backstitching, me and my abandoned pattern would be so grateful!0 -

i''m convinced bookwork one has been in Crazy in the last few years, can you remember what the other bookworm one might have looked like FE? perhaps they have re-done that one too?loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

HI,
Is that the moomin bad girl in your avatar??
I would stitch it in no more then maybe 3x3 so from where you start go no more then 3 accross 3 up/ down before going back in.
When I do it I try to 'end' each bit where it cuts through the aida at a hole (not always possible).
does that make sense?loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Yes, try to see where the back stitch line goes over an aida hole and make that your next point to stitch to. If you ever saw me back stitching, you'd hear me muttering "across four, down two" and suchlike :rotfl:0 -

Thanks both. :j Yes it is annoying but my own fault for cutting up the magazine all those years ago ! Yes its possible the chart was repeated in Cross Stitch Crazy. I did used to buy this mag in its early days but don't have them either. I'm sure I will come across the chart at some point in the future. Its become a bit of an obsession now :rotfl:0
