    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you don't mind a newbie popping in. :)

Well, I say newbie... I've been cross stitching on/off since I was 7, and I just love to stitch, although these days it's when I have time! Due to studying for exams and work I don't stitch as much as I used to, and as a result I have a few WIPs going on and a framing project that I really must get on top of (7 years and counting...) I also want to stitch something nice for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary in August... no ideas yet apart from a sampler.

Thanks fos - looked at CraftSeller before but the price has put me off. 3 for £1 is brilliant and I will probably cancel before it costs me proper money

Could it be one of those rare occasions you could knot it? Put the thread in and other side you will have two loose ends and tie a small knot and trim neat as you can to the knot? Will try and do a picture later, going to work soon.

I know its bad to quote in your own but it helps. Watch out for alot of pictures but thought it would explain it better step by step.

Here is what I was thinking -though Flowers idea is so much better.

Do your first leg of stitch

    108_0678_zps539fac08.jpg

Leave a tail at other side

    108_0677_zpsfb5f4ca2.jpg

Do other leg of stitch and leave another tail

    108_0679_zps3a96bc7c.jpg

Tie a small knot - once might be enough maybe two

    108_0680_zps8e844ea6.jpg

Do a few more like this (from front)

    108_0690_zps3c524e5f.jpg

    From back

    108_0691_zpsfc722583.jpg

Up against the light from the front

    108_0695_zps83eb8fa2.jpg

Up against the light from the back

Hope that explains what I meant.

Better go and get dinner and pop by later.

    Kind wishes to all

Just got home from the Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft show at the Excel, where I met up with Subtle_minx. Thanks Tricksie for sending us the tickets.
Subtle_minx says hi to you all, btw. She's moving house in a few days, so hasn't been able to keep up with our chatter, but she'll be back soon.

So glad you had a good day! Good luck with your house move Subtle_minx.

I haven't done much stitching, been doing a lot of thinking. An opportunity has come up at work for a promotion but it is 45 miles away but I would get more pay. I am thinking of going for it because I am not 100% happy where I am but I would feel awful about leaving and letting people down - so not sure what to do. Hubby supports me either way. Been a friends earlier and she says go for it, what have I got to loose - still have a job if I don't get it.

I agree with everyone else. GO FOR IT! I took a huge leap of faith last March leaving a permanent full time job and going on the Hospital Staff Bank. I had as much work as I wanted and now have a permanent full time job that I love! As you may remember, when I was poorly, I had to work as much as I could as there was no sick pay at my old job. I will need 6-8 weeks off work this summer after my reconstruction and wouldn't have been able to consider it without any wages for nearly two months. Good Luck!
Its 3 Eric its going to look a right mess lol! Although I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do it in 2

I would do it in two strands with a loop finish. I did this for the confetti on my wedding sampler and just fastened it through the back of the stitch a couple of times and it was perfect. You could also combine sweetcarers method with the 1 strand one (sorry, can't remember whose idea ??Mrs M maybe.

sweetcarer the photos have made it really clear what you were suggesting and with individual stitches like that no danger of trailing threads showing through

Don't think I'm going to be able to do any stitching for the next 6 weeks or so! I have so much work on as well as revising for my final year exams. Nevermind, 6 weeks then I'm free to do as much as I want!

Hi everyone! Mind if I join? I've learned how to cross stitch recently, and my DH is already requesting items! I have one completed project and two in progress projects. I'm keeping things small for the time being until I become a bit more confident in my skills.

Here's what I've done and what I'm working on:

    Yoshie (for the DH):

Two bottom sections of the Mario themed project (to go into the bottom of the frame with the Yoshie):

  • Hi everyone, your updates are lovely.

I have lost a little motivation on this at the moment as this has lots of different colours but they are all really similar when you stitch them but this is where I am up to so far.......
