Morning all. Lovely and sunny here today. Been round costco and found some really good buys. Was a little disappointed that there was no craft stuff but then its probably for the best.

Still cracking on with my tapestry. I think I could complete it in a couple of weeks (if I don't get distracted). I would take a picture but it's rolled up on a tapestry frame.

Im keeping my eyes open for a long stitch kit that I like. I do like the wintery ones but they seem a bit pricey compared to others
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!
    JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD
  • Shelly, love that christmas design, such bright colours. Can't wait to see the progress.

Eric's Mum, wow what a stash! Good luck sorting them all in order!

Many thanks everyone for the welcome back! I am still working on the Joan Elliot christmas design for my 10/11/12 - 11/12/13. The only UFO I still have is that Gorjuss with foxes thing :o I shall get an updated picture soon :D

    Happy Sunday all!

Hi all, not posted in the new thread yet so here I am.
Not done any stitching for a couple of days but plan on doing some today.

I spent thursday night in hospital as my temp. was 37.5 (37.6 by the time I got to the hosp.). I was given IV antibiotics and had a chest xray and they sent me home with some iron tablets. Only got about 90 minutes sleep so was totally shattered when I got home the next day at 4.30pm ('you can go home in the morning' - took all blinking day!).
Anyway I'm feeling much better and temp. is back to normal, so it's all good.

I mentioned a few weeks ago over on the 2012/2013 thread that I was planning to sort my threads. Well so far I've wound everything onto new plastic bobbins, added numbers to each DMC bobbin and colour-coded other threads (variegated, unbranded, odds and ends of tapestry wool and craft cord).

"All" I need to do now is sort the DMC stuff into numerical order and check for any gaps, then spend some money !

Anyway here's a sneaky peek at my thread stash:

I confess to cheating! I go to Florida most Novembers and stock up with threads I've used up and new colours issued in the craft stores there - usually 4 for $1 (that's about 17 pence per skein). Last year I got a pack of all 18 variegated threads for $12 / £8 (with a coupon). When I got home and opened the pack, there were actually 36 skeins, 2 of each colour.

I was round at Mum's this morning, helping her sort her unfinished work - she's nearly 90 and her eyesight isn't really good enough now for stitching. Found a box full of new DMC skeins which have come home with me, so I've got more winding to do this evening while watching Casualty.

Really should sit down one day and sort out my threads (and the rest of my cross stitch stuff) - hate not being organised. Just have to take the bull by the horns and do it one day. Where do you go in the States for them. I do have family over there but I doubt if they would go and buy some for me and with OH not working we can't afford to go over any time soon.

I have 2 tickets for the cake making show at Excel 12 to 14 April. If anyone would like them please pm me. They don't have to be for yourself Happy for you to pass them on.

    These have now been claimed

That sounds a great show to go to but I am too far away to go anyway - I do enjoy baking, my late husband was a baker.

I haven't done much stitching, been doing a lot of thinking. An opportunity has come up at work for a promotion but it is 45 miles away but I would get more pay. I am thinking of going for it because I am not 100% happy where I am but I would feel awful about leaving and letting people down - so not sure what to do. Hubby supports me either way. Been a friends earlier and she says go for it, what have I got to loose - still have a job if I don't get it.

Sorry for going off topic and thank you for listening.

    Kind wishes,

    sweetcarer ;)

Go for it, Sweetcarer. Do you think anyone else would miss out on a promotion because they're worried about letting people down? Of course they wouldn't! Sometimes you need to put yourself first. If you're not 100% happy where you are, try for this promotion and if you don't get it, you've not lost anything. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you!

    Soulie,
Sorry to hear you ended up spending a night in hospital, but glad you're feeling better now.

Feeling stressed today. I've got so much to do, but can't get motivated at all. Just want to curl up under the duvet and eat chocolate. :(
