I agree too - especially as you are so in need o the extra money and also don't like your current job...

As your friend says, what've you got to lose.

Sometimes in life the only person you should think of is yourself, and this is one of those times IMO

Best of luck with your application x

    Evening all.
Firstly thanks for the pointers re music players. Helpfully I run Linnux on my computer so Itunes won't work with that but its something I'll think about as I'm hoping to upgrade my computer soon :j I'm still undecided what to do with the sansa sandisk player. The replies I have received so far on the consumer board are pretty one sided (that I'll be unlikely to receive a refund/replacement). It does appear to work as a storage device so I'm wondering whether to keep it to store my music on that albeit I won't be able to play it on the move (but will be able to play the music if its plugged into my computer).

Despite what I said this morning, I haven't managed any stitching today (yet....)

  • Need some help please, at the moment I'm doing Bella and boo Autumn below Bella there are some chicks pecking at seed on the floor, some of the "seeds" are quite far away from any other stitched part and are just one stitch as its done on white evenweave I don't want to be carrying thread to far accross the back to finish of the thread. Any ideas how I can solve this? Thanks

I was just going to say to run the thread under any adjoining stitches but then I re-read your post. I think I would if you have enough thread, is to do each one individually. Perhaps start with the loop method if its 2 strands being used?

so I'm back with post 2 of unrelated waffle ! (got caught up watching the Michael Ball interview on BBC4!)

Firstly, I know this will seem a daft thing to ask but I think as fellow stitchers, you will know/get where I'm coming from. Do any of you run I wonder??? as I have been thinking to myself that I must go back to the running group I joined but I keep putting it off....

I have never been a big fan of running and wouldn't even run for a bus !! but I signed up for the 5k tesco race for life event and then kind of stuck with it. Trained half heatedly for a 10k cross country (came last!) Went running with a local group but used to dread going from the moment I woke (running was in the evening) which was daft really but I really hated the anticipation of it but do recall enjoying the running (kind of) once I was there and felt better for it afterwards (and then used to go home and stuff my face :rotfl:) I do think it would be good for me to start going again but something tells me I'll end up miserable knowing its running tonight when I would rather be stitching... welcome views...

ALSO I know I mentioned before about having a separate thread for general chit chat and I think the consensus was that this thread was sufficient and that it would be tricky for people to keep up with 2 different threads and I'm sure both threads would end up chat themed and cross stitch themed which would kind of defeat the object ! but I came across this thread earlier which really appeals although the rules/guidelines seem a bit strict and I certainly couldn't guarantee that I would be able to post every day so I wondered if anyone fancied a thread for us but money saving themed where we could share meal plans/money saving plans and similar, set challenges and the like. I know there are many many threads on here for various challenges etc but I always get lost and can never seem to keep up and we are such a lovely bunch I thought it might be something to consider.

What colour threads is it, Maria? Could you try stitching 3 or 4 'seeds' and seeing if the threads do show through a lot?

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Soulie, how terrible for you. I hope your health contines to improve. One question though.. Why did it take they so long to discharge you?

sweetcarer, I would say go for it. Please don't stay in a job because if you leave you feel you will be letting others down. I stayed in my old job 4 years too long for that very reason. Now I regret that more than anything! Go for it :j
