Planted up several pots and the house now looks more loved!spent a bit more than I wanted to but it's been a couple of years since I spent money on plants and I think it looks much better. Hoping to get grass cut and fence painting finished over next few days! Really struggling with saving money issue my oldest daughter starts school in sept and it has really made me think about a firm savings plan. I would love to hav mortgage paid by the time she goes to high school.... 10 yrs early! Been reading some of the other boards on here people seem to really do it! My mid is melted by this! Was thinking of giving myself £1000 per month to run the house ... Mortgage food insurance ....and save the rest. I'm on smp so there isn't much but will be working in sept so cud save more. DH pays gas elect car and his mobile . Hav decided not to use the car at least 1 day a week ... Can easily walk to town/parks/parents and need to lose some baby weight still! No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!0

Late to the party as usual...

Due to finances, over the last 6 years we have moved from a huge 3 bed semi in the country, to a small 3 bed terrace on the outskirts of town, to a one bed flat above our little butcher's shop in the worst area of town. 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog, no outside space.
We've been here for 4 months now and I have not really unpacked. It's untidy and the flat is in a pretty bad state, but it's ours and it can be made much much better with some effort. There is no money to be spent on anything but even a good clean and re-arrangement of stuff will help.
I have polymyalgia so am often very tired and sore, especially after a 50 hr week at the shop. DH has severe Crohns and is unable to do much beyond work. I know I can pull things together and make it a real home, I just need to find a place to start and then actually start! I am in the process of collecting clothes we no longer wear to make a rag rug for the kitchen, that's about as far as I have made it! :rotfl::happylove0 -

My DH has started treatment on Humira and so far so good, gotta keep our fingers crossed!
I've never made a rag rug before, but I am in desperate need of a washable rug for our kitchen. I have a big crochet hook so am going to try something like this:

Oh, the humira should definitely help. Was on it for 3 years and it was good...I've just come off it and changed to infliximab as the hospital wouldn't fund me to have weekly humira (by the end of the 3 years, my crohns' was fighting back and fortnightly hits were not working for me). Infliximab seems good.
Hope the humira works for your DH. It's a good drug.
And I LOVE that rag rug. I am so going to try that...it might actually get me the patience to learn crochet. I keep trying as I knit, but I keep losing patience. Larger needle and fabric looks easier than yarn!

Hi all - just back from holiday visiting rellies. Sorry you had to cancel Egypt flyingmamma any chance you can re-book later? I've done the mountain of washing we seemed to accumulate but I struggle with getting it all put away! Forecast here is for rain so that's going to be the first thing on my list today - then tackle the bathroom

Wishing you all a good daySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
