Mancman - my stomach is churning with excited butterflies. I've not felt this happy since my wedding day. I just want to yell out at the top of my voice "I'm debt free" but only 2 close friends (they're both at work in schools so can't tell them yet) and my Hubby know how much debt I've been in and what a milestone it is.0

His Missus that is fantastic news. Enjoy your new DF status (trailing interest excluded) but you are right to stay on here. It's the best, and you can cheer us lot on in May perhaps? Can't do smilies etc but am really pleased for you, especially the 'surprise' element.MFIT -T5 #420

Took a whole load of old paperwork for shredding and found unopened bank statements from hubby in it. Opened them (they were from Dec) and it seems like he's completely living in an overdraft :eek:. I wasn't aware of that. I know what his earnings and outgoings are as we discussed that when we talked about splitting the bills but I thought his days living in his overdraft were over. Not sure how to approach this. Maybe gently drop it in when money comes up again and see what his attitude is to that. I don't think he's aware of that being debt as such but it has big implications. Loads of people fear for their jobs at his work but this means if god forbid he'd be next we not only had hardly any rainy day money but also are one salary in the red anyway. Need to speak to him.
Well done his missus :beer:DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Oh Thrifty, that is a difficult conversation to have with OH. Fortunately me n Hubby have always been open about finances.
Do you think Kat will forgive me for splurging £7 on indian nibbles to go with my home made curry tonight? I've put the remaining £76 into my savings account so I have an emergency fund this month now.0 -
Good day today, DS had a blood test which was very calm and he hardly noticed - combination of good doctor, magic cream, his "pants" book and winnie the pooh. Anyway then caught half and hour of a birthday party and his swimming lesson. Ive cooked and cleaned a bit (enough to make the house habitable for the weekend). Turns out DH has to go to Edinburgh for work on Monday and Tuesday so will be flying solo for a couple of days next week - we will be fine Im sure.
Thrifty - I dont envy you that conversationIve been the one in your other halfs shoes and its probably not going to be pleasant for either of you. Mine was my credit card not the bank as our current account is joint but the same sort of thing was going on. Life has been much better since things are out in the open and it feels like we are on a joint track now. Everyones situation is different and I really hope your chat goes well. In my experience as the "guilty" party it was a relief to have it out in the open.
Right best go finish feeding the squiglets.
Love to all

PS His Missus - a few quid on some side orders - you are better than me - I'd have been off out for dinner!!Debt free on the 28/05/130 -
Nibbles get the ok from me - I would even say a bottle of cava is in order!
I think the financial conversation will be hard but for long term future honesty is needed and would ask why they felt unable to tell or if they just didn't see it as debt - many people don't view an overdraft as debt. Would asking if budget is just too tight for him and trying to reach a compromise be an idea? Wishing you luck when the time is right xHappiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Hello everyone!!!
Sorry I have been AWOL - had a week away with family, which although was lovely - proved a might costly and my budgets have been blown - !!!!!! and botheration!!! Am only on 12 SFD's too - so going to fall short of my target
I just got my payslip today and I've managed to recoup my losses, and restock the money I'd had to take from other pots... leaving me 65p extra on my budget!!! Whhooooot!!!
However...
May is going to be expensive!!! I have 2 weddings - 1 of which is in Wales, so I think I'm going to have to make a reduced payment off my debts this month - although I *will* pay something...It's going to be a really tight month though...
I hope everyone is ok... Congrats to NannyG on your new arrival, and belated Happy Birthday to Jonesy88!!! Sorry I missed it!
Have a great weekend everyone! I'm stuck in revising - but will make sure I get in some rest and relaxation too!!!

Aww congratulations NannyG, lovely news.
And well done His Missus - I hope to join you one day!
It feels like April has been a long month, with quite a few unexpected bills. Found DS2 some second hand cricket boots that have hardly been worn on ebay so thats a bit of a saving. His cricket has already cost me £50 this month and he only plays for 4 months so I was glad he was OK with the second hand boots. I have two old pairs to sell now so I am going to take them to the car boot sale next weekend.
Oh and I havent done as many hours as usual this month at work. I work flexible hours and its been really quiet. Thats going to impact on next months budget unfortunately.0
