  • Welsome back Kat - sorry your holiday was a washout but hopefully Sunday will be so fabulous that your holiday will be more than made up for!!!
    Firstly I have to apologise profusely and sit on the naughty step for approx' half an hour!!! Ihave been missing in action for about a week. Haven't even been able to read the posts. Been poorly, then away, than just got myself really down about the whole money situation and briefly convinced myself that sticking my head in the sand was a better option. In one short week, I have completely lost track of our households spending. I am so cross at myself for losing control. Hubby has been taking cash out the account for bits and bobs but I have no idea what for, I haven't got receipts for anything thats been spent and my spending diary is completely blank:(
    Was going to give up on the month completely but have given myself a strict talking to. May not be able to track spending this month completely because of this, but I can certainly reign everything in for the remining couple of weeks of the month and try to limit the damage. Frustrated because without this slip-up we probably could have paid an extra 200-300 off the cc this month. Believe it or not thats what I estimate has been spent without really realising it this week on food out, hubby taking kids out for days, repairs to pram and car, bits hubby wanted for work (working from home). So frustrating:mad:
    However, onwards and downwards. Purse is staying shut for next few days, have plenty of food for the rest of the month and determined to spend as little as possible.
    Hope everyone is having a more successful month than me!!!

    Had some good news this week however - OH mum and dad have had a pension windfall - they are gonna give us £3000 to put towards the wedding this will pay off a huge chunk of the weddding :j
  • Really sorry to hear that your holiday was a wash out - the weather's been carp all over Europe, what a shame.

    I've had one mire SFD on Wednesday and today will also be SF! I have some friends coming to dinner tonight so better get a wiggle on!

    Welcome back, Kat. Sorry your holiday was a bit rubbish but hey the party to look forward to.

    Another NSD here today as no wallet and straight home. Tea is sorted too. Hubby still didn't get back his money for his business expenses and had to borrow another 50 quid. He better get home without beers for tonight other wise he'll get a right telling off.

    I think I let the ebaying be now too, my postage and packaging rating is low (4.7) even without the new prices and I never over-charge. Can't really think of another way to make few bucks though apart from stepping up the surveying and freebies grabbing.

    Good afternoon all. Beckyboo don't fret it. We will have downfalls all the time. I went on a carp holiday which would have paid off MY ENTIRE motor bike loan. I am kicking myself but salvaged a measly £200 that will have to do for now... I am sorry you have been feeling low though...

    Abundant you too. Glad you have been keeping to your budgets. And the gym. SFD's are there to make us think about what we spend and how often - you are already well versed in this. And there is still the rest of the month to reign in. Join me, I need the next few weeks!!!

    Thrifty I concur with the eBaying. You and a few others have mentioned this and I think unless you have something very expensive or for "pick up only" there is no point. We will have to get more creative (literally) on how to bring in more funds... would an initial outlay for wool for knitting, crafty bits for making cards etc be the way forward...hmmm thinking now!!

    Right then.. can't stop long. This was going to be a short post as I have mountain loads of baking to do. I have to stagger it over the next few days as not everything can be done on the day...

    Looking forward to an SFD! Chin up folks.. only we can make our own lives better!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

  • Welcome back Kat! Sorry your holiday wasn't all you hoped, but I'm sure your party will be.
    I think I'm done with eBay. By the time you've spend time and energy listing, and then the postage hikes and now I've got a second "I won't pay" bidder, I'm thinking it's way too much hassel. Might be time to start making use of those crafting skills to make money rather than selling my carp.

    Well after having sent polite email to non-paying bidder it turns out she was trying to email somebody else she'd bought from. All paid for and parcel in the post. So might be in for ebay a wee bit longer . . . we'll see. I still have stuff that I could sell.

    No SFD yesterday as bought me and friend who leaving work drinks, less than a fiver though so not terrible, but still puts me on tha naught step with Kat's rules.

    SFD today, no plans quiet Friday night planned and hopefully (with some petrol) a spend free weekend: ebay/cleaning the car tomorrow (weather/zero fees weekend), dinner at friends, family party on Sunday.

    Have a good weekend all!

    Sorry to hear your holiday wasnt what you expected KAT, but I hope you really enjoy your party this weekend.

    Bowed out for the rest of this month, budgets gone to pot and SFD's all over the place, bit like Beckyboo really, things got on top of me and then I went spending, (only on food really, as I dont really have too much to spend on anything else and I wont use CC's) so havent a clue how much I have, but my OD will be going up somewhat:o back on the straight and narrow now, and have given myself a big talking to, I have even written a list of all the things I would like to do and have (something like a bucket list?) and ways I can pay for them, needless to say one list is much longer than the other:mad:but hey I can dream.

    I will be following you all, and join in next month when I come to terms with myself

    Why bow out? Things get hard, budgets are blown, SFD's are missed. But you can't just walk away. I was thinking on holiday about bucket lists. People inherently make one when they are very ill, then they manage to find the gusto, determination and drive to get what they want. Because they don't want to miss out right?

    Why do we wait to stare tragedy in the face before considering getting what we want? Why not put it in motion and dig deep to locate that clearly dormant determination gene?

    I say share your bucket list? Let us know ( if you want ) what you want to achieve?...

    If anything - don't bow out. The month is still young- we are not even half away through yet....

    * Disneyland
    * learn sign language
    * ceroc dance with Olly

    * Run a half marathon?
    * do a memory book
    * revamp my wardrobe
    * do a first aid course
    * walk a rescue dog
    * eat lobster
    * be a member in an audience at a tv show
    * release negative emotions and limiting beliefs
    * learn not to take what others do or say personally
    * take up Pilates again
    * write an appreciation letter to my mum
    * write an advice letter to my children/ husband
    * renew my vows
