I don't see anything wrong with keeping certain times as sacrosanct for your family and partner - I think that's really important. BUT it's also really important to have time and interests of your own. One of the problems that me and DH had to work through was finding interests of our own - we'd almost got into a rut - No, I can't possibly do that because that's an evening we could be spending together. But then we'd spend the evening not really doing anything and feeling frustrated that we'd missed out on something we would have enjoyed.

Sometimes too much time together is just as damaging as too little - in my experience anyway!
That's something I hope to build on. Her way of dealing with the day is to tune out with the telly. But mine ... I like reading. Music. Exercise. Cooking. And a little telly too. :)

I like learning about the sport too. I feel like I've got a lot to share and learn about it, which is why coaching appeals.

I would also like to write. I'll pick my spots.

well done for putting together such a nice plan. Amazing determination!

If you are looking for a credit builder card, go to Capital One. They did miracles to me in 6 months1 (make sure you have small limit and pay it off every month!!!)

    Good luck!!

I've decided to make 'In Hell' my debt journal - a way of remembering that hell is a state of mind and that extreme emotion can get in the way of sense!

Now to get some work done ... I can't be considered a miracle worker if I'm online all day ...

Well, what the heck, all day online then.

I went to to https://www.whatsthecost.com and did my first snowball.

October 2009? I'd be happy to go for that.

    HI BW

Oct 2009 is a fantastic result! Lucky you!

You could maybe make it even sooner if your wife would lend you the money to bring you into credit, so you could switch to the A&L account sooner. You only need a statement showing you were in credit for one day, so you could pay her back straight away.

You seem really sorted now and your wife is bound to be impressed by your new focus.

Gracias - I'll look into Capital One in a month if the Barclaycard falls through.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Glad to hear you a bit more positive - having a debt free date really brings things into focus I find, and seeing how the small overpayments add up and bring the date closer makes such a HUGE difference too.

Being able to show figures like the snowball to your wife may help with the discussions too - if she can see that loaning you the money to stay in the black so you can change bank a/c will mean saving X amount on interest and possibly even bring your DFD forward it will hopefully encourage her to do so.
