Mars (Snikers, Mars Bars) starts using animal products

Do vegetarians use products which were once tested on animals? Like cosmetics, food stuffs and medicine?0

No, the issue is that animal rennet comes from stomach lining and can only be extracted from dead animals; the same is not true of milk. For vegetarians, it's the death of the calf which is the issue here.
It won't affect vegans because they wouldn't eat whey whether it was produced with animal rennet or non-animal rennet; they avoid whey because it comes from milk, so they wouldn't be eating Mars or Snickers anyway. So this really is an issue for vegetarians and not vegans.
Ah right, i was thinking of Vegetarians in the sense of people who don't eat meat because they don't like the idea of eating a dead animal as opposed to people who don't eat meat because they oppose the death of animals. I realise i've not been clear there so i guess the 2 POV i'm on about would be "I don't like the idea of eating something that was alive" as opposed to "I don't like the idea of an animal being killed for food"Bought, not Brought0 -
I dont eat meat because I never liked since being very young nor like the look of it. I don't resent people eating meat if that's there thing, what I object to is a company that was selling a product that was vegetarian for many many years, to now decide to use whey sourced from animals. I also question why should any confectionery be made from animal by products in the first place?
My God what is the world coming too when even sweets are not safe to eat because so greedy company wants to maximise there profits, what sort sightedness they have, this will cost them dearly through loose of sales.
I will now buy my confectionery from other sources like Cadburys assuming thats still vegetarian.0 -
As I stated in early post "I dont mind eggs or milk products as a ingredient in products, however I draw the line on this type of ingredient added"0

Interstingly enough for those debating who has the 'right' to call themselves vegetarian the dictionary.com definition is:
noun 1. a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.
an individual who believes in or practices vegetarianism
As such you could eat meat all the time and still call yourself a vegetarian if you believe that what you are doing is wrong.
Food for thought (couldn't resist, although I know that punning is wrong!)0 -
